aluminum tranny case- stampede

sorry guys but i cant figure out where all the screws go, lol. i found where most of em go but i have no idea where the big lock nuts go? any one want to take a couple pics of there setup?

wow, thats weird. on the botton of the tranny case the bracket that the hingepins attach to aro supossed to be counter-sunk but there not. that really sucks. ill have to find someone with a metal counter sink bit now.this trannt case is still amazing but how could flm forget to do this.lol thats dis appointing.

The suspension arm mounts (hinge pin carriers) aren't supposed to be countersunk. The only thing that should be countersunk is the group of 4 3mm screws on the thin plate that attaches to the main part of the gearbox.

I too don't know what the 4mm locknuts are for (there are only 2 of them, right?), but I would guess that they go above the suspension arm mounts to secure the mounts.

ya, thats what im talkin bout. i must have explained it bad, lol. that thin plate isent counter sunk.

Contact FLM about it, and they should fix you up:

2 of the locknuts go in the small recesses where you bolt down the rear shock tower brace. I just took a look at my FLM Pede and that's the only 2 locknuts anywhere on my tranny besides the slipper clutch.

MetalMan 10.12.2006 11:01 PM

Yeah, those are 3mm locknuts. I'm still trying to remember if mine came with two 4mm locknuts.

meatzardd 10.13.2006 01:29 PM

ya i found hte 3mm ones but there are 4mm nuts too.

Meatzardd, i've recieve my aluminium tranny case yesterday and me too, on the thin plate who bolt under the tranny, the 4 hole was not counter-sunk.
I've take a drill mesh and couter sink it myself, but as you said, it's bizare that FLM have forget it, and as i can see, it's on a lot of them that they forgot it. :032:

And the bigger locknut is for secure the crew who hold the arm mount in place. Don't know why, because the arm mount is ever thread, i suppose is for give an extra security.

thats so weird. guess they screwed up,lol.
