anything better than pletty extreme out there for 1/10
like the title says... i've been very pleased with the pletty this far and was just wondering if there is a neu equivalent or something with better perfomance for a 2s or 3s setup... has anyone here upgraded from the pletty to something else?

Extreme for 3S
Shadow for 2S Since last september I did not try anything more powerful than pletty: novak lrp hacker feigao kontronik ... no one of theese has more power. Try with the Shadow and some 2S trakpower lipo: you'll have a light and very very powerful setup (600watt with really a lot of torque). Ciao, Daniele |
Or a mamba maxx 7700 on 2S.. you can gear it for more torque.
|
Ciao Rene :)
I am pretty sure you can have more torque with the pletty one. As you know it's a 4 pole motor. It has been thought for torque and not for kw, as instead of the mamba one, I think. Ciao, Daniele |
Yeah, but the 50k rpm+ are pretty crazy too
|
Honestly, the mamba motors are about all the power needed and pretty smooth as well
|
i agree, with the 5700 and a 3800 nihm pack i can barely keep the tires on the ground. i cant imagine it on a 3s lipo

Mamba max motors are made for the moderate budget people.
If you want to go all out, a Mamba max controller with a top of the line motors is always my choice. You can go for the Kontronik Twist-55 motor ( a very good one for 1/10 cars and a segmented rotor with built in heatsink), Lehner 1920/6 or 1920/5 for high speeds or 1920/4 for super crazy speed and the Neu motors. These motors are simply AWSOME. |
i haven't tried the lehner's or a neu but i've tried the kontronic... i was more impressed with the pletty though... the kontronic sure is pretty toughg... anyone out there find something better perfoming than the pletty... don't really care how much it costs
|
The Kontronik did not perform as good as the Plett probably becuase it has a smaller rotor than the Plett.
Something better would either be a Lehner 19 series or the Neu motors. Be aware, though, the Lehners and Neu might not come with 1/8ً shaft like the Plett extreme. The lehners are 4mm and there are 3mm per request. The Nue motors are cheaper and slightly more effecient than the Lehner 19 series. |
The 11 series motors from Neu Motors might be the hot ticket for 1/10 apps. Here's the link to them http://www.neumotors.com/neu1100.html I think the 1107 1.5y would be the one to look at on 3s

Heh, I'm not sure what you'd get with something more than a 5700 on 3S. Mine flips straight over on its back at maybe 10% throttle. (this is a B4) I guess if you've driven a mamba and it's not enough, then ok, but I'd be surprised if it didn't do it for you. Call me old fashioned, but having a truck that flips over on its back at maybe 5% throttle is not what i'd call an improvement! :)

i'm interested in their efficiency as i am in their power... longer the battery lasts the more fun:018: :018: ,

Eversince their temperature is relative low, you can jump to the conclusion that they are relative efficient.
But since 5700kv is 'pretty hot' the motor will raise it's temperature on 3S. |
I'd say the efficiency of the setup is pretty good. Like I said, 3300s give me about 25 minutes of pretty hardcore running. With the bigger batteries out there, obviously there's even more runtime availible. Once you get into LiPo batteries, it's easy to get a battery in the range of 6000 mAh, and corresponding longer runtimes. I'd guess something like that would give you runtimes close to an hour. If you were racing, basically 1 charge on a 6000 mAh would take care of you for a full day.
You can get longer runtimes by reducing the timing on the motor, at the expense of reducing performance. I haven't tried this with the 3S, but after seeing how easily it flips on its lid, I don't think a performance hit would hurt me all that much! Another thing that I've noticed with mambas is that the better quality batteries you put on them, the cooler they seem to run. Also, setting the start power to "High" reduces temps. From the small bit of testing I've done, mine runs cooler with an Apogee 3S LiPo than with an 8 cell Elite pack. No, that doesn't really make sense to me either, but I ain't arguing! It's also possible that I didn't run the B4 hard enough when I had the 3S in there, so I may change my tune later after I've done more testing. It's going to rain most of the weekend, so kinda looks like I'm shut down though. Sleebus |
