revo / e-maxx

ok guys I need some advice I have a rtr e-maxx and a rtr revo and I am wanting to make the revo in to a e-revo any advice before I start.I do indust. maint. and I have all the needed tools to work with I will go brushless when I get it done and have every thing worked out.I have all the parts to turn my e-maxx into a t-maxx so I am not going to loss a truck by doing this.

thanks
Camp Racing

oh yeah take it easy on me this is my first post here.

I am doing the e-revo with the stock 3.3 chassis. I am over the machine shop at my plant so I too have easy access to everything needed. When using the stock chassis you need to cut away some material to allow the e-maxx tranny to fit and drill some more mounting holes. As far as the battery trays I have cut out part of the motor mount and am machining out some trays to mount onto the side tabs which I have bent down.

The only problem I am having is finding time in the machine shop to get everything done but besides that it is pretty cut and dry.

I plan on working on the driveshafts this weekend and figuring out what I need but will probably just end up getting some custom shafts made by rcalloys.com.

Once everything is together I will run with the titans/Super Duty XR to get everything worked out suspension and driving wise until the Mamba Monster Max comes out at which point I will switch to the Gorilla single speed tranny and add the steel idler gear.

Hopefully with some luck I will have evrything running in the next two weeks.

Welcome to the forum!

My advice is to do the revo. It's got a tougher drivetrain and a superiour suspension geometry.

Camp Racing 10.20.2006 01:10 PM

thanks TexasSP

when you say you have to cut away some of the material to allow the e tranny to fit.How much is it to much that if I want to go back to nitro I will have to buy a new chassis or will the mounting hole for the stock revo tranny still be there?

Camp Racing 10.20.2006 01:12 PM

Thanks you Serum

I plan on doing the revo just wanted to get some info before I start.

Serum 10.20.2006 01:17 PM

You can check Dafni's thread about his e-revo, it's got lots of usefull information for you.

You could always do a Gorilla chassis, not sure if you want a racer or basher, but its an option. How far is Douglasville to Atlanta or Macon?

Camp Racing 10.21.2006 12:08 AM

Douglasville is about 20 min. from atlanta. Do you know where six flags is?I live passed six flags.I just want to bash with it and I dont want to lose ground clerace.where do you live,...macon?

Serum 10.21.2006 03:34 AM

You guys have got six flags too? nice... We have got one over here too..

Camp Racing 10.21.2006 08:46 AM

yeah it is pretty cool haveing it so close but I dont go anymore.I went a lot when I was in highschool.

crazyjr 10.21.2006 11:33 AM

I actually live in Warner Robins, but macon is bigger so it shows up better than my town. I live about 14 miles south of Macon. We got a track here and i was going to tell you a little about it, but being a basher you might not want to go that far.

Camp Racing 10.23.2006 07:52 AM

yeah let me hear it I like to race some times just not all the time we have a group of guys that try to get together on the weekends and go to the local bmx track and race.we don't have a track close by so we run where we can.but yeah tell me about the track and I will come and see it sometime.

crazyjr 10.30.2006 06:59 PM

Here is the website, there is a forum there as well as an address. We got a growing group of racers of about twenty right now, most are nitro, but a couple of us run brushless.

Update on the track, it has closed. but the owners are going to build a track in another place and let the business part of it die
