6s might be to much
I just charge two 3s 8000mah maxamps batteries to put into my e-Revo using the fastlane emaxx transmission. I was using the 54/20 spur/pinion gears because I forgot to downsize it before I tested it out.
Anyway, I excelerated one time and melted the spur gear along with burning the metal on either side of it, (I think it is called the slipper.) :007: :020: Anybody have any suggestions as to which slipper and all the hardware that goes with it is the strongest. I also need a new mod1 spur gear. I will use a 62 tooth for now, but it looks like I will need to dial this truck in a little better. My next run will be a 62/18. |
6S on the stock slipper is asking for trouble.

The cheap way is a monster gt spring. The strobe works out well and they are coming back. Not sure why they wanted to stop.

You need to take the emaxx tranny, walk outside... and throw it as far as you can. lol and fit a 1/8 diff or wait for Mike's slipperential thingy. :)

That is actually a MGT slipper setup I believe. Its a mod1 spur, I'm guessing from a MGT since there compatible.

Heres a stupid question, but why not elimate the spring altogether? Just set it to where it will slip only when absolutely necessary...

Stock slipper will just not work. I tried it on mine with 6s, it was so bad i had to cut up the spur to get the pads out.
I ended up super glueing them on the spur + spring, that did the job until my strobe comes from America. |
The stock slipper sucks - I tried it twice. Even when I accelerated slowly and change my gear size it still burned up. Thats twice in two runs.
Anyway I will probably order the strobe slipper kit. But since there not in stock I did some research and found a Robinson Racing slipper kit. All metal and has holes in it for cooling like a disc brake. Not sure if it will fit on the emaxx tranny. Also, I believe it is a 32pitch spur so I order RR pinions to match. Hopefully I did it right and won't have a problem with installation or running it. I also checked the car on the speed gun and reached 57mph using 52spur and 18 pinion. My goal was 60 and I think I will achieve it once I use the all metal slipper. I'll keep everyone posted on when I crack the 60mph mark. |

a little wear means less pressure. Before long it won't hardly move no matter what you do. The reason the mgt spring works better is it is alot fatter and puts more pressure on plates. The stock emaxx spring sucks. I sold my strobe cause i have been running the stock mgt slipper system. :018: |

You need to get the plastic spurs....The metal on metal will shred the pinions...Did you get my PM? |
Well I tried it again and I melted the spur gear a second time. Top speed using a 52/16 was 57mph and I plan on breaking 60 before I'm done. Mike is still out of the strobe slipper so I searched the web and found Robinson Racing. They make a 32pitch 54spur and 14-22pinion gears with an all metal cross drilled slipper. I'll try this configuration on Wednesday when I get it in the mail and tell you all how it works. I will start with a 14pinion then 16 - 18 - 20 and finally if the E-Revo can handle it a 22.
Well what do you guys think about my idea of using the RR slipper as a substitue? also, what does everybody think about the RR slipper with the plastic spur instead of steal? |

What is everybody's opinion on the Robinson Racing slipper.
BTW it uses a 54 spur. I was going to start with a 14 pinion and move up by 2 until I max out at 22 |
I think it is a metal spur. = faster wear
