Neu Motor Wind Recommendations????
Looking into buying a Neu Motor, Mamba Maxx ESC, and a UBEC....hopefully this week.
Having trouble decieding on the wind. I'm leaning towards the 2.5D or the 1Y right now. Choices Are: Neu 1515/1.5Y (1500rpm/v), a Neu 1515/2.5D(1700rpm/v), and a Neu 1515/1Y(2200rpm/v). For now I'll be using 12 or 14 GP3300's (I could use 16 if the MM could handle it). I'll upgrade to Li-Po's as $$$ becomes available. Opinions Anyone? |
I have run the 2.5D in 1/8 buggy and truck and I'm very happy with it. I had a hard time decided which wind to get also... I considered the same motors as listed.
I figured the 1700kv was a good fit for the truggy and the "sane" racing speeds I was after. The 2200kv I think could be geared low enough also.... but in the end I thought the lower kv was good and it will be much better suited for running higher voltage when the Monster comes out. :) Imagine a 1515 1700kv on 6s or 8s for some insane speed runs...... eek! On 4s/14 cells the 1500/1700 need some tall gearing if you want to go really fast... what vehicle and speed goals is this for? |
This combo is for my Supermaxx E-maxx (see signiture).
The truck will be used for both racing & bashing. I (in the past) have used this truck more on track than off. I'm more into making fast laps, learning better driving skills, and launching & landing jumps smoothly than I am interested in jumping barns or doing quadruple flips. In short, think "Truggy". |
I would run the 1515 1y with 12-14 cells. That is what i have but going to run 4s lipo.

If you are running a tranny I would say go for the 2200kv.... if running a 1/8 center diff, get the 1700kv
|
glassdoctor, why the recommendation for the lower kv rating if running a center diff? Does the center diff have more drag than a tranny?
