Got my GST 7.7..
Wow, I gotta say... the GST 7.7 was a lot more than I expected.... it's really heavy, but it looks like it's well made also... Well, I have all of the nitro stuff out and sellin' on ebay. So she's ready for a brushless conversion.... for my power plant... I will be running 8S 20C hyperion 3700mah lipos.... mgm 24.160.... but motor... still undecided, because the stock motor for the GST runs @ 25000rpm?.. (i'm not sure whether I should run higher rpms).. I'm gonna use the same clutchbell for it. I'll find some prop adapter I could use or something....
any clues guys?.... should I stay around the 25000 rpm like the nitro motor?..... Any suggestion for motor would be cool.... I wonder if Feigao 20XL will have enough juice to run this 17Lb beast... http://www.geocities.com/aqwut/gst.html |
For a vehicle that heavy, maybe 25,000~30,000 rpm would be best? I think the 20XL would be too slow. The 14XL, 15XL, or 16XL would be better, imo. If you can afford it, you should get a Neu 1515/2Y, or better yet a 1521/1.5Y. That would be badass.
a 12 XL fegaio is 1390kv and with 5s lipo's it will be about 25733rpms no load if that helps
maybe a feigao 16XL.... hopefully it will have enough juice to move... and if it proves well... I might try to neu motors.....
You could always run the motor at ~35k rpm and gear down so the final speed is comparable to the Nitro. Would be less stress on the motor too...
I was thinkin' of that brian, but it's got 2 spur gears... and I'd have to specially make or find a clutchbell for it....
Well, it may be possible for Mike to bond two pinions together to get the ratio you want. Just an idea.
BTW: That's a pretty truck! :004: |
yeah.. maybe Mike can do that..... It's a nice truck... but the only downfall are the cheap shocks.... I'm actually buying another GST 7.7 Roller.... I just think it's a very tough truck ... has anyone ever tried a feigao on a heavy truck?...
Almost done with the brushless conversion....... all I need to do is, make a battery tray/holder and she's all done... she's heavy though.. about 1.5Lbs heavier than stock... I think it should hold up pretty good... I might need to get the aluminum diff housing for it...

is that your 2280 i see? very cool project...............
yeah... 2280 suits better in this vehicle than an e-maxx... it will be cheaper in the long run.... The LST Driveshafts won't handle it.... I have yet the test run to do...
I agree on the 22 series being better suited. Nice so far man.
I like! Looks a lot like a savage! How heavy is that?
Thanks.... I took serums advice.. patience... patience and patience.. I had to file the H*ll out of it, just to make it look decent.... it's a whopping 18.58Lbs with batteries and everything.... that's about 1.5Lb heavier than stock... but really guys.. the picture doesn't do it's justice... the parts looks like to be really well built... that's why I bought a second one...
I also have to make a rear support, just incase of crashes and etc.... come to think of it... DO NOT USE the MGM 24.160 with the throttle/brake servo.... I almost lost my nose... for some reason they have very very bad (instant) interference.... so I stuck, A Z270 servo on it and it was fine... but it's not powerful enough to stop the beast.. I will put a z590 servo on it... Hopefully I can get a video in a few days.... I have to resolder new ends for the Lipo batteries that I bought from NL12... just incase, better safe than sorry... |

I have the battery holders done, it took a long time.. but it's finally done....
here's the link if anyones interested. . http://www.geocities.com/aqwut/gst2.html I'm gonna try running 8S 8800 20C Lipo Packs... or maybe the max amp packs?... |
