Motors
ON the rc driver e-revo the had a 8l on a 4s lipo at it did 48mph, but if i put a 5s or 14 cells on a 9 or 8xl it does 32-40? Would a 8l or 8xl do well in a stock maxx?

An 8L is too hot.
Speed might sound nice, but it's useless if it's not durable. for 4S lipo a 7XL would be nice. The 9L on 5S is too hot too. from the listed motors you give, the 8XL get's my vote on 5S. |
My brother ran a 8L. We couldn't get it to run cool. I have seen it as hot as 220f.

That's why I didn't like that article so much as it gives people bad information about motor selection. I started a thread about it a while back.
Basically the setup is for a speed run only to put up good #'s for a BL setup to show off the potential power. However, if you read that article and the one for the Frack Design LST, they both say the motor gets burning hot quickly. Not good if you plan on running your truck longer than 5 min. I did 48 mph reliably in my ERevo on 5s. The motor stayed cool driving on dirt and pavement, but did get to 170+ running WOT in the grass. I was overgeared by 1 tooth on the pinion that I normally run as well. The 8xl will do that speed fairly reliably, but you'd be even better off getting a more eff motor or running 6s and a lower turn to be really safe in all driving condidtions. An 8xl should do ~40-42 on 14 cell on stock emaxx on 14 cells rereliably. |
So what upgrades would hold up to an 8xl on 14 cells? 3.3 axles, 3.3 centers or cvd's, Maximizer 7075 Aluminum diff cups (2), and Integy Aluminum diff case (2)

Could you post 8 and 9xl videos? PLZ!
|
I would go with some cvd or dog bones for center. The 3.3 seems to hold up
to alot on the wheels. If you check out my rcpics link below. You can find some vids of a 9xl. none on 14 cells though. It is one on 12 cells. |
