My 1st MAMBA MAXX ?
I just got my mambamaxx speed control fro mike. It comes with 4mm plugs, can i change them out for 5mm plugs for my 7XL with out voiding my warranty ?.
|
I have heard them tell members in other posts it is ok to cut the connectors off and solder the wires directly so different plugs should not be an issue.
|
While you're at it, shorten the wires if possible. They are kinda long considering they are only 14GA.
Actually, I think I remember reading in the manual that it was perfectly acceptable to do so... |

Brian i already planed on cutting them as short as possible. The wires on mine are 13g not 14g. I also plan on using deans plugs on the batterys. If i decide to run 14 cells instead of LIPO's, i assume i can make a jumper of the speedo so i can use two packs , like you would do on a BK warrior ?. |
Let us know how it works out.

Hope you like it as much as i do. I run a 9XL on my Mamba with a G2R and 12 cells

The 9xl has a kv around 1650. The titans are about 1200 kv.
I think he is running almost stock gearing. But then again he is a racer and to much speed is bad as well as good. |

Hi everybody
My ubec should be here this weekend. Can i solder it to the speed control wires at the circut board were the power wire connects the the MAMBA MAXX, or do i have to solder it at the plug ?. |
Well, it would be the smartest to solder onto the plug..
when you solder on the board directly, you need to heat it entirely, otherwise you'll get a cold connection.. |

Okay rene, i was just trying to keep the wire as short as possible. What if i solder it to the WIRE just before the board but not the acctual board ?. |
Yeah, i understand what you mean..
If you just make it hot enough, it would be a good connection, but you need to pay close attention on the other side of the circuitboard, to see if the tin is melting on that side too.. While you are at it, you might as well put the output of the UBEC directly on escs receiver wire I was planning on doing that with my mamba-maxx. What bec did you get? i got one with a very small footprint, which would blend right in.. |
