Maxx 1/8 scale diffs
 

Ok guys I know the 1/8 diffs that are used in the hybrid bulks(FLM), are used for on reason because they are much more durable. First I am kindof deciding what diffs to get, I already had decided, but then when i thought about it more i rethought. First I was going to get the hb lighting diffs, i know these are good but i was looking for something slight cheaper(unless these are the best diffs for the maxx you can get if so tell me). Recentally i was thinking of the kyosho diffs like the 777 truggy diffs(i thought of this because i saw this truck won many races so i assumed that the diffs were good plus i saw them for only 38$). I also looked at some jammin, ofna, and other buggy/truggy companies. The First question i have is will any of the 1/8 scale diffs work regardless of brand/make. Second question what are some good 1/8 (very! durable)diffs that i should look into. What are the strongest diffs at the cheapest buy(most bang for the buck). Third question why are the hb diffs more expensive than the other 1/8 diffs i have seen like the kyosho. Are they more durable or better or is there realy no difference. Last question with the buggy diffs oposed to the maximizer or flm standard sized diffs becides stregnth are there any other benifits like do the glide smooter(like they move like butter). The HB diffs are the best money can buy. Its affordable, veeeery tough and it fits the bulkless with ease.
The Ofna diffs are the same ones Unlimited Engineering sells.
Ofna has the six spyder and the eight spyder. The latter has a metal gear carrier unlike the plastic ones.
To make a long reply short, go for the HB diffs with your eyes folded and you'll be very happy.

What spyder are HB? Are the UE 8s the strongest money can buy?

Yes the UE 8 spyders are the strongest money can buy...by far....

HB are 6 spyder as far as I know, and some people, here, prefer them even over the 8 spyder, though I went for the 8 spyder, just beacause they look tough. HBs are affordable with harder gears which have more helicoil teeth than the Ofnas.

what kind of lube should i use with my hybrids and hb diffs i want smooth gliding. i will be 70% bashing(not hard though) 30% racing woth lehner 1950 and quark and 4s lipo and the maxx will be slightly lighter than stiock with ti arms shocktowers and graphite chassis and a slipperential thanks guys for your opinions.:027:

I use 70w oil in the front and rear diffs.
Since you'll be bashing most of the time, I say use 70 front and 50 rear.
Also, use a heavy type grease for lubricating the teeth of the pinion and ring gear.
A good type is the Tamiya Anti Wear Grease.

Actually, if you are bashin, you can use the same in front or rear. If I were bashin, I would run 10,000 in the front and rear. maybe even thicker. the thicker the oil, the more it'll give you traction. although, there is an over kill in this of course.

The 8 spiders of ue are not the best and toughest money can buy.

A proper setup HB diff, with hardened gears, being only '6 spider' is tougher than the aluminum gears of the 8spiders. so skip that 'by far' part.. :p

I would have to agree with that, and the HB's are cheaper too.

Put some Ofna steel gears in the UE.

These gears drop right in to the UE spyders and are steel. They work great and give you a bulletproof diff. If you want a hardened steel version, get these: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCWX7&P=7

some ofna's use 5 instead of a 6mm shaft..

not so cool..

the UE's use 6mm shafts. The savage has got hardened gear too, which should work as well.
