help with rear diff
I have a newer emaxx that hasn't been bashed or run that much. I took it to the track yesterday and ther rear wheels don't spin. When you turn the rear left tire the right tire does not move at all, but the rear cvd spins. Obviously there is something broke in the diff case. before i take it apart does anyone know what the most probable part that broke is? I looked at the spool diff you can buy is this a good replacement alternative? What would be a good and permanent fix so I don't ever have to go back and rebuild this rear diff. Thanks for your help.

The internal gears or the pin that attaches the cup to the diff.
|
Thanks serum, is the pin external that i could replace without having to take apart the diff?
|
just observe it closely. You have got it in your hands, so you are the one that needs to observe!

this is pretty much a stock emaxx. without going brushless, what upgrade for the diff would you reccomend so i don't have to worry about it breaking again.

Aluminum cups are a good option. (get 7075's, no 6061's)
and aluminum housings. You can also look for UE 6 or 8 spiders, nothing beats them. Or an FLM bulkless with the hotbodies! that's freaking tough.. It makes it a set and forget.. If you are looking for a cheap alternative; the FLM cups (which are 6061 though) and the new t-maxx 3.3 housings. |
cool, thanks. yeah i'm looking cheap ( but stronger than stock since i'm not going brushless. Is the stock plastic housing causing problems, i thought maybe the gears were plastic and one just broke. what do you think about the spool diff traxxas sells for $13?
|
spools are bad.. Nice for crawling, but for running it straight, they are a PITA..
most likely your ringgear came loose from the cup (it's using miniscule screws) an aluminum cup would have prevented this. The cheapest upgrade is the FLM cup with the T-maxx 3.3 housing. |
Thanks. you've answered my question. have a good day.

You too man..
I guess the weather at your place is better than here..! |
What cvd spins when you spin the left tire?
You could have sheared the screws off in the diff cup. |
