All I did was remove the servo and locked the shifter arm in place. I used a lock collar like from a nitro brake linkage, or airplane wheel collar....

I guess I locked mine in 1st gear actually... but you get the idea. Just manually lock the shifter. You could also use some spacers on the shafts inside the tranny, even something like fuel tubing would do the trick.

What Glassdoctor says works fine. But if you want to remove some weight, you can get the gorillamaxx single speed conversion. And even then there are some options.

- You can get the whole kit which removes the shifter arm, first gear, an idler gear, and the back half of the tranny case. You then have to do some modifications to the input shaft (remove the first input geat and cut the shaft down), install the 2nd gear locking piece, and then the replacment plate for the rear half of the case. I personally did not like this as it removes four tranny mounting screws.

- Or, you can get just the coupler (which locks second gear). Then, to lighten things up, remove the shift arm, and grind off the first output gear until it is simply a spacer on the shaft. You can even remove the first input gear and associated idler gear. This allows you to keep the rest of the tranny case for mounting purposes and doesn't cost much by comparison.

Either way, I'd also get the steel idler gear which will last a LOT longer than the stock plastic one.
