receiver problem
 

hey guys idk whats wrong with my truck but i have alike a 10 foot range before it like cuts out. my receiver wire did get cut short by my dogs but it still comes out of that blue antenna. ive done multiple tests to make sure it wasnt the batteries cutting out, but it has to be something with the receiver. i took some extra wire and wired it up with the antenna wire to make it longer and it doesnt seem to help. not sure what to do besides buying another receiver.. so lmk what i can do guys!!

The antenna wire is actually tuned so the exact length does matter. Aside from chopping the end of the wire off, your dog could have broken the wire somewhere else that isn't visible.

I would find out the actual stock wire length and replace the whole wire directly to the circuit board inside the receiver. It's really not as hard as it sounds...

well im going to be getting a new one for free anyways.. so i was just thinking i could use this as a backup..... hmmmmmmmmmmm

what is the stock length wire?

I know you haven't said which Receiver it is, but if it's the stock Traxxas system, the length is 24" of 24 gauge wire according to a post over at the Traxxas boards.

o lol didnt know that would matter. ya its the traxxas one!! so im guessing it has to be 24 guage??

yep! I've had to replace the antenna before directly at the circuit board. It's not hard to do at all...

I've done the same it's pretty easy. I've also used 22g wire. No change in range or general performance.

o lol jeez! i called my whole town to see if they had 24 guage! lol i thought it HAD to be 24 guage! noone had any.. lol well at least now i know!

Yeah, the thickness really doesn't matter as long as the length is good. Of course, I wouldn't solder 12GA wire on there! :p
