GMaxx Single Speed Questions....

Sup guys...just have a few quick questions that maybe somebody out there with the GMaxx single speed tranny conversion kit could answer...

1.) How greatly does the loss of rotational mass increase the speed?
2.) Does a permanent lock in 2nd gear affect wheelie ability?
3.) Compared to a stock E tranny, how does it hold up for maintenance?

Hopefully somebody can throw me a few helpful bits before I splurge 60 bucks on the kit. Just wanna make a good assesment as to whether I really want this thing or not. Thanks guys and Happy Holidays.

1) It doesnt increase the speed enough to notice it.. but the smoothness will be uncomparable (the single speed is smoooth as butter).
2)Depending on what your running, if you running BL, you will still wheelie, even with the stock titans and good 14 cell packs you would still be able to wheelie.
3) There is pretty much no maitenance other than bearing cleaning every now and than.

its a very solid unit! i used a steel idler and an aluminum flm halfcase to complete mine. its never given me any trouble using an lmt 1950 with 6s lipo.

does the g2r erevo kit the one that is 595 come with a steel or plastic idler

Sylvester 01.04.2007 09:58 PM

Plastic.

does it come with the precut top idler gear for gmaxx single speed conversion.

Nope- you get all the parts required to build a normal 2speed gearbox. Just follow the instructions as to where to cut, and all will be good.

Actually, my E would wheelie in second gear with just 6 cell GP3700's. This was without a single speed as well!

Well i havent really tried on 12 so i wouldnt know, 14 cells was just my guess. 12 cells to huh, ill just change up my post a little :)

The good thing about the singlespeed is that it beefs up the drivetrain. the slop on the 2speed is killing gears. You do need a steel idler though. Plastic will go sooner or later.
