feigao 8L gearing

well just ordered my first brushless system from rc monster.....the system includes:bk warrior9920 controller, feigao 8L, and cvd's thru the whole drivetrain. i plan on running 14 nihm cell on this setup. i was wondering what size pinion i should run if i plan to run with 66 tooth spur gear???:032: i wanted to run a gearing that is more speed then accleration.....what type of speed our we looking at with this type of setup?????? i'll have pics on profile soon as i get it installed.....:027: :D :018: :)

Do you mind me asking who recommended that? Sounds like its gonna run kinda hot...Buy anywho, I would try a 12T pinion to start with....

Welcome to the forums Cliccker.

What are you putting the brushless system in????

Do You Know What Kind Of Speeds I Would Get With Setup????should I Run 12 Cells Instead Of 14????

I Plan On Putting This Setup In My Pretty Much Stock Emaxx....

Try BrianG's speed calc worksheet. Should gove you an idea of what to expect.

Just wondering why you chose the L can vs the XL. A 7xl would be a great motor for your purposes and even with the slightly lower KV the bigger can would let you gear up higher and get more speed than the 8L.

I seen my bro run a 8L in his emaxx. It was mostly stock as well.
It ran hot all the time. I think 7xl is much better. I had better temps and
faster than his. Then again he was hard on it. I won't easy on mine either.
I would run 12 if you going to do it. Gear down kind of low. Then you can see
what happens.

That is one wicked hot setup! 12 cells will make that motor hot, leave alone the 14 cells! if you are planning on making it an every day ride, you need some proper diffs on your maxx! it will rip!

BTW with 12 good cells (very good cells) you should be able to hit the 50mph with that setup.

squeeforever 12.26.2006 07:48 PM

Yup. Serum is right. I hit around 50 with a very similar setup (on 12 Sanyo 2400 NiCads...).

Can you say ''hell no'' dont waste your money on those. Maybe for your flashlight.:005: But your brushless system will run terible on those (if it even runs). Like Phildog said...At a minumum get the GP3300. As far as Nimh goes, I really like the IB3800 for the price. Cheap batteries DO NOT WORK for these high amp applications.
