G-maxx Conversion

What's up everyone

Just finishing my conversion from stock setup to custom. Here's a break down of the parts I upgraded so far.

G-maxx G2 CF chassis EXT
G-maxx G3 suspension
G-Maxx G2 X Brace motor mount (waiting for BL, ;) to install )
Fastlane Front/Rear Bulkheads
RPM Bulkhead Braces
RPM skid/wear plate (front/rear)
RPM Knuckles
RPM Bumpers (front/rear)
Proline Power Stroke Shocks
Integy AL diff case
Integy Gear Box Collar
Maximizer AL Diff cups
RD Logic Maxx 2.5 Cvds
UE TI Drive Shafts
Traxxas Talon Tires & Gemini RIms

Had a couple questions on a few items that I'll need, some sooner then later, lol.

Battery Padding: For those with G-maxx chassis, Do you use the padding, does it help, etc?

Servo Saver: UE version any good? Think Andy has it on his truck, what's the word on it?

Front Skid Plate: Currently using stock, what's good?

Turnbuckles: Currently using stock, what's good?

Body: Stock won't fit with EXT chassis. What will fit?

Body posts: Need replacement, noticed I have a crack in my stock post so what's good?

I'll be updating to the single speed conversion once released, along with a better radio and servo, compared to stock.

I wanted to give a special thanks to RC Monster Mike for helping me out during my rebuild and I also wanted to thank everyone here for their input on parts, etc. THANKS!

It is a very nice list so far, but please post some pics, to satisfy my curiosity..

The questions you have got;

- UE servo saver is by far the best available. (proline HAD a safer as well, but to suit the rest of your trucks specs, go UE)
- skidplate; ever considered the raceskid from g-maxx? They are nice and short, they don’t use the skid as a bumper. And they perfectly match your rearskid you got with the ext. kit Just use RPM wearplates.
- turnbuckles, stick stock, till you break/bent them, and if you are interested in throwing in some extra dollars, i would buy the Lunsfords or Prolines
- body; the proline EXT types fits the extended maxx perfectly look here you'll see the Ford F350 and the escalade,
- body posts; well, i personally would not buy aluminum, just stick plastic, buy RPM or stay stock, but that is just my opinion.. Aluminum will bent or snap, and might tear your body apart quicker than the flexing plastic types. And if you buy a station type proline, they include the rear longer bodypost with the body

Well - it looks like serum hit that one on the head - The only thing I could add is definately stick with the stock body posts. I have smashed mine a bunch of times and I will gladly replace the little plastic mounts rather than using alum body posts and replacing bent shocktowers or snapped bulkheads from impact. Get a couple of extra body posts and cut them after mounting the body so they dont stick up that far above the body. They only bend easier the farther up they stick - and when you cut them off - keep the cut off pieces for replacement when you break the mounted ones.... just my .78 cents...

If you want some color for you body posts you can get some nice nylon posts in various colors from RC Raven. Thats what I am running on my truck. The ext F350 and Revo Crowd Pleazer bodies fit real nice on the extended chassis. I just picked up the MGT F650 that fits real nice too it just overhangs the front bumper but I like the look. I hope to have the body finished this weekend.

I went with the Proline servo saver since it was half the price.

Also, the new g-maxx skids (when they are released) will have a slight bend as it exits the bulkhead, which will minimize the need to use the RPM wear plates. The UE servo saver or Proline saver both work exceptionally well. I use (and sell ) the proline f350 extended body on my truck. There are a few others that work well also (mentioned above). I also agree - stick to the stock body posts. they are cheap and easy to replace.

i run the UE servo saver on my truck, and its awesome. i might buy one of those 350 extended bodies, but i have a stardard lenth one and it looks fine, and my chassis is 2inch extended.

you have to go to a online piture site and thve them host it. like www.imageshack.us . and you should use cell pads, or else your cells will get chewed up.

Yea - I agree with supermaxx - The foam pads definately help your cells from getting beaten up on the chassis - and also it helps the cells from moving and sliding around and possibly out when tumbling( i mean thats what i heard - I've never tumbled my maxx, being a finesse driver and all - LOL j/k )
