Traxxas Truggy vs HellFire Truggy

Hey guys as you know i have been moving up to build my next project which is the fully race/basher E-maxx (Including slipperiential, hybrids HB diffs, gmaxx chassis, crime fighter tires, 4s lipo, 7XL and so on). I am MOST LIKELY still going to do this project. But after surfing the web i am getting dragged into buying my favorite truggy the hellfire. I want to know what you guys think i love maxxes but the project i will be doing will be so much money and i am only about 1/5 of the way there on funds. The truggy(hellfire) i can buy and get running with the money i have and no additional cash needed. This is toying with me because my Patience is getting to me but i will accept what has to be done and get over my wanting to drive right away for a better end truck. I currently have a stocker E-maxx that i have around, i also have ti arms, ti turnbuckles, and msr5 integy shocks(given to me for free). i was planning on selling this stocker for more funds for my ground up maxx build up. but the sale did not go as planned and i lost some funds. i do still have the maxx but not the cash. It will take me more time to gain this cash than planned for. The thing i am talking my self into is to buy the hellfire and run the maxx stock and build on it slowly. i want a cool Maxx but a hellfire is cool too. I want to know what you guys would do. I know there are better truggy but i am kind of attached to this truck because of the layout and what i have heard about it. Does anybody have one of these. How does it compare to the revos, maxxes, and any other truggy. Also what are the speeds and goods and bads about the Hellfire. I am wanting to know the performance in nitro form not the Brushless versions just how good it is stock when it comes nitro. What do you guys think? I love the maxx but it seems to be a good deal 2 drivable cars one stocker maxx and other 1/8 scale truggy, or just one fully decked out maxx that might be done at the end of the summer. I Need your opinions, they are greatly appreciated thanks a ton. (I think i am 70% Maxx 30%Hellfire But that could change)

Well, a G2 Chassis will have a CG much lower than a Hellfire, so it should smoke it (considering the are the same power-wise).

PS. Try to split your posts up into readable segments. That giant paragraph was harder than hell to read, and its probably going to limit responses.

OK I really hate to confirm my noobness like this, but I can't take it any longer. What exactly is a truggy? I keep hearing truggy this truggy that, but don't really know what a truggy is. Can one buy a RTR truggy, or is it a custom thing like rock crawlers.

MetalMan 12.30.2006 01:54 AM

Truggy = truck-style suspension on a buggy chassis (wide and large tires on a low CG chassis).

BP-Revo, I'm not so sure that the G2 would have a lower CG than a Hellfire, unless you mean it would because the battery mounting would add 1/8" to the height of the batteries on the Hellfire.

what do you think i should do. BTW the paragraph is pretty small compared to some others i have seen and i did not want to break it up because i was tired and was writing as i was thinking, BUT feel free to edit it to make it more readable.

:032: I don't know about that. If you have the motor flat on the chassis, the COG of truggies is even lower than on Gorilla trucks.

starscream 12.30.2006 06:36 AM

I'd suggest the G2R as its already setup for batts etc. If you'd rather do the work yourself then the hellfire could be just as good. I prefer going with gorilla products cuz they're soo pretty :017:

i know some of you guys will not like this but if i get the hellfire it will stay gas because i want a gas car. Don't get me wrong Brushless is the best and it smokes gas any day of the week, but this is just one of those things i have to do. Even if i do do the maxx project i will still buy a gas car it just may not be as expensive as the hellfire because most of my funds would be going to the traxxas truck if i did that. So either way i am getting a gas car and using my maxx. the question I am contemplating is should i go Brushless with my maxx now (if i don't go bl now i will later) and spend a good bit of money, or spend about 1/5 the cash for a good RtR truggy and just race my stock maxx with the little upgrades and then build on it slowly. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK!

hyperasus 12.30.2006 01:22 PM

If your going gass.....why not get a Revo. That way you can convert to brushless soon as reality sets in LOL. But really. Revo 3.3 is the best gasser out IMO.

GorillaMaxx360 12.30.2006 01:44 PM

i want 1/8 scale plus if i am going gas it is either helfire for a high budget, and jato for a lower budget. But realy what do you think i should do hellfire or maxx.

tallyram 12.30.2006 02:00 PM

my jammin is lower than my g2r for sure, hellfire isn't much different.

hyperasus 12.30.2006 02:03 PM

One of my friends has a hellfire. Not a bad ride by any means, but the fun factor just isnt there compared to our brushless trucks. Even my brushless E-Savage is funner to play with. I'd say deck out your maxx. Alot more replay value there.

GorillaMaxx360 12.30.2006 02:19 PM

1 point for the maxx cool thanks for you opinion

+1 piont

go for BL truggy!:004:

Sylvester 12.30.2006 03:37 PM

Id second the BL emaxx... ive seen alot of nitros run, and they were NOTHING compared to a BL system. Dont even waste your time with nitro.
