RadioShack RC??

I was at RS picking up a few components and noticed they have a new line of R/C. They look like they use standard steering servos, receiver, and ESC. Probably no-name parts, but it's at least modular. The construction is still a bit weak, few suspension tuning options, and the standard shocks have too little dampening, but at least it's a step in the right direction!

Yea, i noticed that too! They are VERY similar to the AE RC18t/b series of toys:) Maybe they are worth a try, i may go ahead and get one for fun.

BrianG 12.30.2006 06:55 PM

IMO, I don't think they're worth $100. Maybe if they were something more reasonable, like $60, I may try one...

Mike.L 12.30.2006 07:10 PM

yea, its kinda a shame to see copys of what the REAL r/c is and see some little peice of poop come.

skellyo 12.30.2006 07:17 PM

IMO, it's too easy to go on teamassociated.com and pick up a refurbed 18T/18MT/18B for $100 + shipping than to pick up a Pro Pulse vehicle.

BrianG 12.30.2006 07:28 PM

I agree, but at least they (RC) are waking up and putting out better stuff. Sure beats the Tyco clone stuff they normally have. I just thought it was kinda neat.

You guys cant really say anything about it, atleast until some actual reviews come up. From the reviews ive seen on the source and radio shack, they seem pretty good apart from the servo (weak). But if i were to get a mini, id just get a FT rc18t.

I'm not knocking the vehicle itself, but what kind of aftermarket support do you think we'll see for this lineup? Radioshack will be selling hop up parts and probably replacement parts, but do you think Pro-Line, RPM, 3Racing or any of the other big name parts manufacturers will hop on to support it? I very highly doubt it. At $100, it's right on the border of big name hobby grade RC's with a huge support base. And don't forget, for $100, it doesn't come with a battery pack or charger like a Mini-T or RC18x does.

Never said you were knocking on the vehicle.... (mike) called them a "peice of poop". I do agree though, i just think this would be a good toy for a younger kid that doesnt have to much access to hobby shops / internet that could get him/her started in this great hobby!

coolhandcountry 12.30.2006 09:46 PM

It may not be the greatest. Like slyvester said it can be avilible to more peeps
at radio shack. Cause with out internet i would not be in the hobby. I don't
have a clue of a hobby shop with in an hour of me.

That looks pretty damn close to an 18b knock off! I bet it is pretty quick! nice job by the way.

It may be fun to go to a track, tell everyone you have a RadioShack "toy" and then whip some butt - with BL of course. :)

One thing they got that associated doesn't, is an option for dual motors. Anyone for dual wraith motors?
