What is the Best Battery
What are the best Ni_Cd battery cells. As for runtime and good puch.
|
Why would you want to run Nicd? Id take Nimh over Nicd any day.
But to answer your question, probably the Sanyo 2400's. (Not sure if 2200 or 2400). |
sorry i ment the other i think the batteries that are like 4300 mah and stuff.
|
i ment batteries like these
|
You mean Nimh, Than the GP3300 and GP3700 are the best. And if your an IB fan than the IB3800 are also good.
|
what about the ones i sent the link to they seem to have a high mah level and they are race quality.
|
They are good for runtime but arent the best for dis-charge rates.
A rule on nimh batteries is ; the higher mah a battery contains, the harder and less likely it is to have a good dis-charge rate. |
I am not to familiar with batteries so can you elaborate more. does this mean i get long runtimes but it takes for ever to discharge. also with these batteries do i have to discharge them all the way to dead before i can charge them again. is this with all matched batteries. because if it is all about discharge rate then i do not care about how long it take to discharge aslong as they have long run times
|
I think Sylvester means that they can't cope with high discharge rates. A good battery will maintain its voltage level under heavy current draw. A bad one won't. ie. you pull full throttle and a bad battery will supply less power than a good one.
Never discharge Nimh cells to dead. Even Nicds shouldn't be discharged to dead in a series battery. |
The problem with the 4300's that they drop sooner in voltage on a lets say 100A load. the GP33 and 3700's keep a higher voltage on a high load.
the IB3800's deliver impressive power too, but they are not as durable as the GP 33 and 3700 |
so i should get ib3800 then and i do not discharge them after i am done driving them dead in my car i can charge them again with out discharging. also what kind of runtime and speeds am i looking at in a revo with 51/18 gearing on a 8XL.
|
You shouldn't even drive them dead in your car. :)

so it would be the same runtime pretty much if i got 16 cells ib3800s as i would the 4800 orion packs. Would i get more power since i have more 14.8 volts like the orions. Also with these batteries(matched 3800s) i should follow the same procedures is i would would stick packs right.
|
I just was on rc calculations and i put in the items needed the first time around i put in 14.8 volts for the 2 team orion batteries and the second time around i put in 19.2 volts representing 16 cells Nimh the speed almost increased almost 10 mph does this sound right. Also can the 8xl with heatsink and the quark 125b w heatsink handle 16cells. (i think so just making sure). so for my purposes do you guys think nimh will work for me, for many reasons like: Can get like 10 more mph with more cells and voltage, cheaper, more basher friendly, more tolarable, and such what do you think about these batts for my needs. I now you guys like lipo but i will not need more than 15minutes and the ib3800 should do me good and i should get good voltage with not a huge drop of of voltage what do you guys think.
