well... there ya have it.

so ofna 9.5, violator, mutilator front shocks are a direct replacement for the stock maxx shocks. nearly indenticle... the ofnas are maybe a 1/8" longer than the maxx shocks.
i used long rear springs so i wouldnt have to run so much compression on the adjuster.
buttery smooth, and just the right amount of preload. im using medium ofna springs and 45wt oil.:028:

sooo... what that means is you can get the same shocks UE sells, for less than 1/2 the price!! they are in stock, and they even come with the studs!! lol.. i saw a used set of 8 UES just now, bidding up to $195!!
you could get 8 ofna shocks for $100.:027: NEW!!!
shhh... dont tell everyone!! lol..

i even tried out a set of ofna 13mm big bores(best in the business) they fit fine too, just use the fronts with stock towers. but i need those on my jammin!
they are more expensive...

the rear ofna shocks are close to an inch longer FWIW.

heres a pic of the 13mm big bores, front. they seem to have plenty of clearance through the stock arms...:027:

Well, you pay 144 bucks for 8 new UE's, which come with 16 springs in total, mounting hardware, (the aluminum spacers) nitrid coated shafts and some spare parts.

I don't consider that very expensive?

cool, if your happy payin $150 for shocks... ive never paid that much for shocks and ive been playing with these a LONG time, im 36. that just seems unreasonable to me... but i guess nearly everything for the maxx is unreasonable! there would have to be something cool about em, the 12mm ofna shocks are very standard. they dont even have bleeder holes.. i do like the TiNi shafts tho... i wonder where they found them? you dont see em on buggies for some reason?

i guess this way works for me because im into buggies, i have these things layin around. i only had to pay $25 because i already had a 1 set. i plan to only run 4 shocks at this point... unless the need arises to up the damping, ride height is fine.

i was about to get the power strokes just because theyre different.. but then a buddy had a set of the 12mm ofnas so that settled it!

the big bores would still be far better than these 12mm ofna/UE shocks tho!! but they are closer to $50 a pair.

just tryin to show some people how to do it on the cheap!! you can get 4 from ebay for $50.:010:

Cool glad to see they fit.

TiNi shafts are pretty common on shocks. Team Losi has been doing it for over a decade on their top level kits.

revopqrs 01.10.2007 09:06 PM

ya i know about them for monster trucks, but ya dont see em on 1/8th buggies? i wonder why.....

Procharged5.0 01.10.2007 09:20 PM

It makes alot of sense. Superhard coating, minimizes shaft & seal wear.

There are better coatings available such as Diamonex, Casidiam, and a few other but they are not as cost effective.

if i ever build a maxx again then im getting the hb lightning shocks.
