Has anybody ever ripped the tranmission from a G2R before

I was showing off to a bunch of people today and was doing backflips off a tree, while in the middle of a flip, I had the throttle pegged trying to pull it out and the front tires hit at the same time, when it landed, I pulled the throttle to do it again, it rattled so i investigated and the transmission was completely detached from the X-brace (shafts still in place). Has anybody ever done this, Just curious.
My setup: strobe with 13/51
9XL and mamba max esc
4s lipo's
also running the half trans. with stock case

Wow...Pictures of the damage would be nice. :D I would go with the FLM half case. You shouldn't have that problem again...

Not much damage, just pulled the screws out, going to get longer screws and nut them. Here and i want to try 5s. Forgot to mention, still runing a plastic idler gear. I can't seem to break it

Forget pictures of the damage. I want video of the backflips off of a tree. :D

Hurry up and fix that thing so you can get a video posted of that!!! I wanna see.:018:

I managed it with a G2 if that counts, gearbox came right out of its position, fell out the side of the shell. Although there were a few stripped holes in that gearbox case.

I haven't done it yet, and I have had some real nasty crashes with it. I used longer screws and held it in by nuts though. However, I only did it on one side, since hte other side it is obstructed.

I fixed it with nuts on one side and longer screws on the other they dig a little into the gearbox but not bad enough to intefere with the gears.

Jhautz I have no video camera so can't get a vid of it, its actually more of a flair, it lands 180* to the aproach, if done right. my next door neighbor has a tree with the perfect angle to attempt

GorillaMaxx360 01.14.2007 04:47 PM

WOW what a acomplishment (kindof)

Not really...its been somewhat known to happen. Plus, its cutting the number of mount screws in half.

GorillaMaxx360 01.14.2007 05:20 PM

I was not talking about the last reply i was talking about the first post where he said I was showing off to a bunch of people today and was doing backflips off a tree.

crazyjr 01.14.2007 06:31 PM

Its not much different from doing a backflip on a ramp, you got more angle so it might be easier. You just need to find the right tree

jhautz 01.14.2007 08:04 PM

I still wanna see a vid of the backflips off the tree.:dft003: Sounds cool.

OK, I got a cheap eBay camera and will try to get a good flip for you guys, hope i don't rip the tranny again, this time will be permanent, till i get a slipperential

Mike.L 01.14.2007 10:00 PM

lol.... lets get some action here!

crazyjr 01.15.2007 02:42 AM

I'll try sometime this week to get a flip but there is rain forecast here for mon. or tues. so it might have to wait. I have a strong belief of not running my stuff for two days after it rains. Don't get me wrong, I love the water, but not when running my RC's
