What BL motor for Wheely King?
 

Anyone have any idea what motor I should buy for my Wheely King? I've got a spare Mamba Max sitting here and it's dying to be installed in the WK. There is no slipper clutch on the WK and it's got a silly high gear ratio. Guys running modified brushed motors like 17T are only getting into the 20mph range. I'm thinking about maybe a MM4600 or a 380C 6L. My only issue is worrying about killing the drivetrain in a hurry without it having a slipper. So what do you guys think?

Hmm. Interesting. If you knew the weight, actual final gear ratio, and tire size, you could find an appropriate motor I'm sure. Are you looking for high speeds, or more wheelie action?

A 380C 6L should put it into the low 20's on 6cells or 2s...which should be more than enough speed for me with this thing.

I already did. That's how I got the estimate of low 20's with a 380C 6L.

It's pretty light, about the same as my Jato. But a 24:1 ratio! Wow, that's quite the reduction! I assume this includes diff, tranny, and spur/pinion?

The MM 4600 (or similar kv "s" size motor) will get you to ~21mph. And if you decide you want more speed, you can always go to 3s to get to ~33mph. And, for extreme speed, you could even go with 4s for ~44mph. I know CC says 3s is the max for the 4600, but it also says 12 cells as the max, which is the same as 4s.

By the way, if you post or PM me the tooth counts of the various parts (tranny, diff, etc), I can add them to the speed calc...

im running my 3lb rusty with a mm 5700 using some 3s a123 cells and i cant keep the front end down!
