HP Numbers for Nitros
 

Has anyone seen this? Looks like someone made a decent dyno and put some numbers up. If those are accurate, most of the HP ratings are in the 1.5HP range. That's "only" about 1100 watts. Looks like we have the torque and the power! :028:

I'd be curious to see a decent BL system dyno'd on that thing just for comparison...

You wont ever see it if the dyno machine is owned by a nitro guy... They don't want to know the truth.:005:

Looks like the stock savage K4.6 motor isn't so bad afterall. The HO (High Output) isn't so HO after all, perhaps a tad higher torque, but not more hp...

The maximum torque is good on the nitro engines though.. but with BL the powerband is much, much smoother.

That OS .30 is pumping out 53 N/cm of torque.. Too bad it's only available at a high RPM.. Needless to say brushless is capable of delivering instant power/torque, while being much smoother.

I actually saw this over at the Traxxas forum (because it was kinda slow here), but thought I'd link the actual source.

One thing these numbers don't show is the power curve. Any amount of power is not much use if peaks at the end of the RPM range...

Someone should get their BL setup on that dyno! And even hook up an eagletree to see how much HP in vs HP out (efficiency). This would also show if the dyno is relatively accurate.

Yeah, curves would be nice.. It would even show a bigger difference between the BL and nitro setups.

One thing though; you don't know how lean/rich the motors are running on this dyno.. this makes it kind of tricky to trust any of these things...
