Best Tire/Wheel for CRT Truggy?
I'm new to 1/8. Building a CRT conversion as I type. Looking for suggestions on what tires work best for all around bashing. My track has a combo of loose and packed dirt. But before I choose a tire I must first select the rim. I was thinking about the 40 series pro-line rims.
Would this require me to get 23 mm adapters? My hubs currently measure 17mm. Do they make these for CRT's (Excuse the ignorance on my part). Offset considerations? All input appreciated..... |
For a CRT I would suggest standard offset wheels.
And if you have loose stuff on the track, I'd try the Crimefighters MT or MTR. Mike should be able to hook you up with both. I'd stay away from the 40 series. Just my opinion DAF |
Dafni, thx for input. Your opinion is my opinion until other opinions come this way since I've never even driven a 1/8 truggy.
My roller came with wide offset hex adapters to compensate for HPI rims that have no offset in them. They're rather plain, unsightly rims. Wanted a bit more "bling". I am extending the chassis by 10mm. Do you think this extra length would invite some extra offset? I don't want to fork out the dough for more wheel adapters. thx. |
IMO, just run the proline truggy wheels... white dish rims may not be bling, but it looks "right" on the track. Bling is for bashers.... white dish is for racers. :)
Also this allows you to run the best tires if you want to compete on the track. Proline MT tires are all good... you can't go wrong with bowties or crimefighters. But there are lots of others too... Panther and GRP etc |

Actually IMO you always need at least two sets of tires anyway.
I don't run race tires off the track, so I like to have a set of bash tires. Then you can have the best of both. Get some bling rims and good all-purpose tires and a nice set of white prolines. ;) problem, solved |
True, get some big fat chrome wheels with impressive looking rubbers for the homies. And some sleek, light and narrow tires for the track.
Nice to see you here, Cadima. I guess you are the "buddy" Mike was telling me about, the SW pics of the CRT gave you away :) And by looking at the radio box on your truggy, I could guess that you also did a certain battery holder for a Pede I saw in "someones" basement, right? Anyway, Cheers, nice to have you here! Thank you DAF |
Daf, guilty as charged.
Cheers |
