good to see that they are expanding there motor line. now if they just get the software out to run the novak motors I will be all set.

jnev 01.26.2007 11:28 PM

I actually just saw that literally 2 minutes ago. Looks nice and right in between the 5700 and 7700, so I think a lot of people will like this one. I wonder what the capabilities are on it in terms of number of cells.

bdebde 01.26.2007 11:33 PM

Well, now I gotta get that one to complete my Mamba collection! Might make my touring car a little less insane than the 7700 on 6 cells.

BP-Revo 01.26.2007 11:35 PM

They say 6-8 cells or 2S lipo max, which is about right. However, you could probably get away with running it on 3S lipo. That yeilds 75000RPM. Only 10,000 over the limit...

Plus, I've heard that Castle often tests their motors at 80,000RPM. There's also someone around here running a 7700 on 3S!!

bdebde 01.26.2007 11:39 PM

A 7700 on 3s! That must be nuts, a 5700 on 3s is crazy fast!

pinolelst 01.27.2007 12:01 AM

There's a couple of people running 3s on the 7700..for how long is apparently the question.
I'm one whose guilty. The day it blows up I'll let ya'll know...pics if the endbell pops :005:

Tell me about it, I got a 5700 on 3s in a T4 and at 45 mph it will flip out. Last time i run it it went 50+ft on its top

AAngel 01.27.2007 03:14 AM

I, too, am running a 7700 on 3S in a T4. It is nuts. Believe me, when you start to open it up, all you can do is TRY to go straight. I've seen more than a couple of PO'd Jato 3.3 owners after a race, because the guy at the hobby shop told them the Jato 3.3 was the fastest truck around.

I've clocked mine at over 60 mph. That's an honest 60. It'll do that any day at any time. I've been told by the guys at Castle that the 5700 on 3S is faster because you can gear it. I'm going to assume that they are right. I'm just going to keep running my setup because I like the zip. When it's going fast, it's all motor.

This 6700 is interesting to me though. I'd like to run that on 3S. Now I'd believe that it would be faster than the 7700, just because you should be able to gear it a bit more and have the best of both worlds: gear and zip. As it is, I had to struggle to get the right setup in my T4. I wound up with the shortest tires I could get, which were the Speed Hawgs. 12/87 gears and I made the truck as light as I could. I even went as far as to split my 3S2P 8Ah pack into two 3S1P packs to cut the weight of the batts. Now I can run until the batts dump without heat issues. As for keeping the front end down, I just tried to minimize the amount of air (wind) that can get under the truck and flip it over, and I put a wheelie bar on it.

It's lots of fun for drag racing, but not much use for anything else. It's even too fast for bashing. The tires only last a night (about a solid hour of racing and running) and the transmission suffers too. The last time I rebuilt the transmisson, the diff balls were gone and the metal rings that hold the diff balls in place (forgot what they were called) had chunks missing from them. I also had to go back to dogbone because I was breaking cvds left and right.

I didn't mean to get off of the topic of this post, but I just didn't want anyone going and throwing a 3S lipo in their 7700 powered vehicle without knowing what to expect. I don't even bother with new bodies anymore. I just tape up the one I have. When this thing slides, it slides a long way. It could run a scale 1/4 mile drag on its top. I do stock up on stock towers and shock caps though.

Thats the first i ever heard of a T4 with diff problems

AAngel 01.27.2007 04:42 AM

I wouldn't call it diff problems. I just don't think that the transmission was designed to ever withstand that sort of abuse.

hyperasus 01.27.2007 10:27 AM

Seems to me they would have been better off to release a motor around 3500kv. I don't understand why CC makes their motors so high rpm. I can't run any of their motors on my stampedes and ruslters. They just run to fast and hot. If they would make a motor in the 3000~3500kv range then we would have something to talk about.

crazyjr 01.27.2007 11:54 AM

On my T4/Mamba 5700/3s setup, the diff is fine
