I, too, am running a 7700 on 3S in a T4. It is nuts. Believe me, when you start to open it up, all you can do is TRY to go straight. I've seen more than a couple of PO'd Jato 3.3 owners after a race, because the guy at the hobby shop told them the Jato 3.3 was the fastest truck around.
I've clocked mine at over 60 mph. That's an honest 60. It'll do that any day at any time. I've been told by the guys at Castle that the 5700 on 3S is faster because you can gear it. I'm going to assume that they are right. I'm just going to keep running my setup because I like the zip. When it's going fast, it's all motor.
This 6700 is interesting to me though. I'd like to run that on 3S. Now I'd believe that it would be faster than the 7700, just because you should be able to gear it a bit more and have the best of both worlds: gear and zip. As it is, I had to struggle to get the right setup in my T4. I wound up with the shortest tires I could get, which were the Speed Hawgs. 12/87 gears and I made the truck as light as I could. I even went as far as to split my 3S2P 8Ah pack into two 3S1P packs to cut the weight of the batts. Now I can run until the batts dump without heat issues. As for keeping the front end down, I just tried to minimize the amount of air (wind) that can get under the truck and flip it over, and I put a wheelie bar on it.
It's lots of fun for drag racing, but not much use for anything else. It's even too fast for bashing. The tires only last a night (about a solid hour of racing and running) and the transmission suffers too. The last time I rebuilt the transmisson, the diff balls were gone and the metal rings that hold the diff balls in place (forgot what they were called) had chunks missing from them. I also had to go back to dogbone because I was breaking cvds left and right.
I didn't mean to get off of the topic of this post, but I just didn't want anyone going and throwing a 3S lipo in their 7700 powered vehicle without knowing what to expect. I don't even bother with new bodies anymore. I just tape up the one I have. When this thing slides, it slides a long way. It could run a scale 1/4 mile drag on its top. I do stock up on stock towers and shock caps though.
