G2R Differentials need advice please
Hi all,
Need your help. I have not yet bought any esc or motor for my G2R but am working on the chassis build. I dont think Im going with a Novak system if that helps you answer the following: Should I install the diffs in opposite directions or do you think it will be easier to just set the esc/motor to run in reverse or reverse mount the tranny? Thanks -- still trying to understand electrics Ive been mostly in nitro. |
making a brushless motor run in the reverse direction is super simple. all you have to do its switch any 2 of the 3 motor wires and the motor will spin in the other direction.
EDIT: I jsut read your post more carefully. With the Novak systems Im not sure its that easy. Not sure how reversing them works. Hopefully someone else can jump in here. |
The Novak systems are not reverseable.
If you run the E-Maxx tranny facing in the "stock" direction with the shift linkage toward the front/spur gear toward the rear, then you must flip the Revo diffs over from standard Revo orientation (diffs have marking on them saying which side up - you should install with that side DOWN). Or, if you are running a single speed (which I suspect you are) you can just rotate the tranny 180 degrees (what I have done). Both work well, and you can experiment with different setups which affect weight distribution. Also, to let you know, with the HV ESC, you must either "rear mount" it - see my thread on it - just do a search for "Rear mounted ESC" or you must make some sort of spacer to move the ESC forward on the truck. The HV motor is too long and creates clearance issues. |
