lipo
i have a e-maxx that i plan on running a lehner Xl3100 in and a warrior 9918. i would like to run lipos. only thing is i have no clue on how many i would need to get for optimum runtime and power. i at least need a 12-15 minute run time for long races. also would i need a ubec or whatever it is? or would i be better to run a reciever pack? and finally what would be the best charger to use? preferable one that can charge 2 at a time.
thanks |
Best charger is Astroflight 109. With the XL3100, you don't wanna go much higher than 5s. So, if I were you, I'd get 2 4s 4400 packs or 2 5s 4400 packs and hook them up in parallel so you get 14.8 volt 8800 mah or 18.5 volt 8800 mah. If you ALWAYS use them together, you can charge them at the same time with the Astroflight 109 and charge it at the 8.0 amp rate. You can fully charge your pack in about an hour then. Heck, you'll easily make the 12-15 minute mark.

would you please recommend the cheapest set up you are talking about. a good one. but an affordable one (im only 15 and dont have a job to pay for my hobbys), but a good one. also isn't a hour a little long to charge a couple of batterys?

With the XL3100, you can pull about 100 amps so you need to get lipos that can give out 100 amp peaks w/o exploding. My recommendation is to go 4s 8800 mah. So, that's two 4s packs in parallel. Each of those 4400 packs cost like 180 bucks so you're looking at 360 bucks just for the batteries!!!! But, as long as you don't puncture them or over discharge them, they can safely handle the current draw. In addition, you'll get 20 minutes easily with 8800 mah if you run in first gear mostly. The other affordable lipos are good, but they all stand the chance of blowing up because the 3100 motor can pull 100 amps.
Honestly, at 15 years of age, don't do it. Too costly and dangerous. You might burn your house down and because Lipos are relatively new, they're expensive and not perfected yet. Wait a year or two, you'll be more responsible, and Lipos will be much better and cheaper. Just 2 years ago, the best lipos were way weaker and cost a lot too. |
well as i said before im really thinking about lipos but 360 bucks is way to much. i did find a battery at a desent price; 55 dollars.
Cell Size(milimeters) : 5.0(T)×44.0(W)×140.0(L) ( pack Thickness 15 mm) Weight: 8.80oz / 250g (pack weight less wire) Capacity: 4000 mAh Voltage : 11.1V Max Charge Rate: 1C (4A) Max Burst Discharge Rate: 10C would i be able to run two of these with the 3100xl or possible the 8L with the warrior 9918? |
i also found a battery that is, if it is what i think it is, a amazing battery.
Cell Size(milimeters) : 5.0(T)×44.0(W)×140.0(L) ( pack Thickness 30 mm) Weight: 17.7 oz / 504g (pack weight less wire) Capacity: 8000 mAh Voltage : 11.1V Max Charge Rate: 1C (8A) Max Burst Discharge Rate: 10C would i be able to safely run two of these? |
