Neu 1512 pinion fitting issue

the motor has so huge diameter that i am able to fit only 18T pinion

i need to use also 16T and 14T but cant position the motor as it already touches the transmition and cant move any further.
for 16T i need to move the pinion closer to the spur about 1mm and for 14T 2mm
any advice?

i am thinking of sanding the transmition case but dont think that I can take 2mm out of it

Is this in the emaxx? Maybe you can mod the motor mount for it to fit.

BrianG 02.07.2007 07:12 PM

You probably won't want to do this, but what about dremeling the motor fins a little where needed?

pinolelst 02.07.2007 07:19 PM

Bigger spur available ??
Shaving the fins off the motor case might look bad but is probably the best solution. Not sure if I like the idea of weakening a transmission case by shaving it.

well bigger spur is available but its 65T which is too big (have strobe with 51T)

its emaxx with trinity motor mount. the problem is i need to get motor closer to the spur and making new holes in the motor mount wont help. if the motor did not have fins it will fit so i guess i will have to dremel them a bit unles someone comes with better idea

Perhaps get an even larger pinion to use with the 65t spur to maintain the same gear ratio ??

sorry ...just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks:002:

Have you run the motor yet? If not, possible talk to Mike about exchanging it for one without fins?

BP-Revo 02.08.2007 02:42 AM

Try the motor on the other side of the tranny.

I know that one side of the tranny is bulkier than the other...

wallot 02.08.2007 03:22 AM

with 65T i have no chance to get same gear ratio as i have now with 51

I like the motor with fins it should help in cooling it

i tried the other side of tranny - the gap is smaller so i will just dremel fins a bit and be ready to go

still have to finish custom cooler/mount for the quark. cant wait take it for spin

51/14 = 3.643 to 1
65/18 = 3.611
51/16 = 3.187
65/20 = 3.25

Looks like you alreay have a 18t so use that with the 65t to get basically the same ratio as 51/14.
And 65/20 is pretty close to 51/16.
A guy at racing uses a 65t spur with the strobe without problems.

wallot 02.08.2007 06:04 AM

Thanks Patrick

that sounds good but isnt the 65T spur so big that fitting large pinions becomes a problem?

Serum 02.08.2007 06:07 AM

With a 65T/18t the distance (heart/heart from motorshaft/strobe) will be 41.5mm. In other words; too large. you need to adapt you motorplate with the 65T to make it work.

Shoot Mike an email, perhaps you can swap the finned Neu for a non finned, like Squee suggested.

wallot 02.08.2007 06:13 AM

i want to keep the finned version :)
adjusting the motor plate is not a problem, but is the ofna pirate 65T spur direct fit onto Strobe? from what i have seen in the forum there need to be some adjustments done

//i was searching for a ofna 65T spur and found only steel version which is something i do not want

Serum 02.08.2007 06:15 AM

No, it needs some love before it fits..

Patrick 02.08.2007 06:16 AM

Oh
The guy at racing uses the 65t because of his Hacker C50. He told me it was about 3600kv, so he uses a smaller pinion, I think a 16t. I didn t look at how much mounting room he had left though.
