Some Lipo Questions...
 

Ok guys, I was going to get Maxamps 8000mah 4s lipo but I remembered about the truerc.com 8000mah 4s lipos.

The Truerc.com 8000mah are only 10c continuous the maxamps are 20c continuous, so would the Maxamps really be double as powerful? I will be using a Neu 1515 1y in a LSP truggy if this helps any. Will runtime be comparable between the two? Will the Truerc be enough for the 1515 1y? The thing is that I could get 2 Truerc 8k lipos for about 60 more than 1 maxamps 8k...

get the pack with the highest "c" rating you can afford. I would not go with 10C packs regardless.I think they are older technology and will probably not supply the punch that true 20c and above packs will supply.Plus depending on amp draw a 10c pack has a greater chance of being overworked and damaged than a higher c rated pack.Twice the power ?? dunno about that but lets say it should be a noticeable increase.

Ive got a few sets of the TrueRC 8000mah packs. they are great for the money. Unless you plan on doing somethig totally outragous they should supply the voltage you need with no issues. They are rated at 80 amps continuous and 120 peak. In my most power hungry setups I am peaking right around 130amps according to my eagle tree. So Im pushing them to their rated limits and I havent had any issue with heat in the packs.

I feel very comfortable saying that the TrueRC will do anything you need. I run them in my big 1/7 XLB, my Revo and my E-Maxx and they perfrform great. I also have some packs that are based on some 20C/50C cells and they dont feel like they are any more powerfull. They are just a little newer technology and slightly lighter.

For most reasonable purposes the True RC cells should be plenty. IMO


Besides that.... Theres nothing like having one to run while one is on the charger.

I guess I will go with the TrueRc ones; do you think that the 1515/1y will pull 130+ amps? The specs on the motor say 110 amps max for 30 seconds...

It will only pull greater than 100amps in peaks lasting maybe 1/10-1/2 sec. long, which is nothing.

The Maxamps pack should deliver twice the power, but at that point the wire/connector would be limiting the power output more than anything.

So, will the power difference be really noticeable between the two batts? Also will there be runtime differences?

The Maxamps would be more likely to flip your vehicle ovre upon heavy acceleration. But because the Maxamps will allow more current to flow, they might give less run time.

You wont feel the difference. Both batteries will have more than enough power to flip your truck on command.


No doubt, the MaxAmps are based on newer technology cells. I dont own any MaxAmps, but from what I hear they are good. I can only tell you my experience with TrueRC has been as good as well and I dont think you would be disapointed.

What MM said is technically true. But IMO the differences in runtime would be negligable. I wouldnt worry about that.
