mt-2 build coming along...
about a week ago i got the mt2 and today i won the differentials on ebay and thats all i need!!
today' i found a way to get the motor mounted. found a way for the batteries to be mounted took off all excess parts i didnt need so now all i have to do is wait for the diff to come and im good!! but the only problem is... 1 the tranny seems really weak... keeps coming out of place 2 stripped a spur gear and cant find a replacement (its the older kind that they dont make anymore... so should i by the newer tranny off ebay? im sure it wouldnt be more than 50 bucks... and i would think its a bolt on replacement. if any of you have done this conversion help me out here!! dont really want to have a crappy tranny for a 4wd bl truck!! thanks! (will get pics when im off work) would this tranny work? http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-HPI-NITRO-MT...em160082907834 or this http://cgi.ebay.com/HPI-Racing-Nitro...em230092941414 |
Are you sure it's a MT2? To my knowledge all of the MT2s use the Savage spur gear, which can be easily bought.
yeah those are the mt 2 center spur assemblies. yes they use savage spurs.
heere ill talk some pics...
while the pics are uploading.... ithink im going to buy one of those center spur trannies or w/e because the one i have obvisouly is older and i coulodnt even find my kind of spur gear anywhere.. im going to order one of those tonight so lmk if they will work!! (well im going to watch oni on ebay but i just need to make sure it will work!) http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k9...2/P1010143.jpg http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k9...2/P1010144.jpg im buying a new chassis once everything gets done... the one i have is might ugly... lol (unless everything covers it up then maybe not!! we'll see! |
Looks like a MT1 spur there. MT2 should work, and it has a slipper. You may have to use MT1 drive cups to fit the center dogbones correctly. Get the instructions from HPI for the MT1 and MT2 18SS. If you are replacing parts anyway, it would be a good idea to upgrade to the 18SS parts for the drivetrain, to hold up to the brushless power. Most MT2 parts will fit, some may require modifications.
ya i was going to upgrade them. only thing im thinking of doing now is maybe looking for a different 4wd stadium truck to do the conversion... if im going to be putting a couple hundred in it might as well be sweet
I bought the MT2 18SS kit for $300, then sold all the nitro gear for $150 on ebay. Total cost of $150 for the roller, got all the HD drivetrain etc. It works well with the Mamba on 3s and I can get a lot of parts at local hobby shop. Check some of the Hot Bodies trucks as well, I saw one of them that looked really beefy.
well if i can find a deal like that ill do it!! prolly
You can buy the 18SS MT2 kit on tower for $300 + shipping if you use their $30 off code on their homepage. You should be able to sell off the motor/pipe/tank for at least $120 on eBay. That would put you at around $180 with a brand new roller with upgraded drivetrain.
Or, you could just step up and buy a Lightning Stadium Pro-R from Ultimatehobbies.com for $259.95 shipped. |
