Fix aluminum wheel to tire..
Do you guys know how to do that?
I used regular super glue, but it did no good. Should I use thread lock or something? Thanks, Alawi El-Jifri :) |
loctite has a special glue for aluminum(havent tried). However, I havent found anything that worked very well.

Superglue can work but you need to carefully prep the surfaces of both the tire and the bead area of the rim. the rim should be prepped by scuffing with medium scotchbrite or 180g-240G sandpaper and the tire bead can be scuffed plus both wiped down with rubbing alcohol or acetone prior to the application of the superglue. Losi's "tire superglue" works well.
If that fails another alternative is: |
How about rubber type cement?
|
Rubber cement would peel too easily. Contact cement might work though.

A customer came into the LHS I work at asking for this stuff call Black CA or something like that. It is used by many for things such as attaching tires to aluminum wheels. It's pretty much CA glue with some black stuff in it. Sorry I can't give any more info. on it.
|
Black ca?
I should search for it. |
Here's some:
http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=986 It's possible that I confused this glue with glueing two CF plates together. But I seem to recall that the customer I was talking to was wanting the Black CA for gluing tires to aluminum wheels... Anyone have any experience with this? |
black ca has rubber in it, so when boneded (over one day for me) it is like rubber u can pull on it and it will stretch just like rubber and is VERY hard to get off, but i have only used it on plastic wheels
|
So it'll make me strive to get the tire out of the wheel?
|
yeh for me it did anyway.. just ry it, and glue them all up and have them sit for atleast 24 hours to dry
|
This way I might damage the edges of the aluminum wheels, right?
|
huh??? what would it mess up the rims??? as long s u dont get to happy with the glue and get it on the rime u will be fine.. if it gets on the rim u cnt really fully whipe it off, it always has a lil spot of where u hit it, but with al it might be different
