Stampede Aluminum/steel differential

Quick question about the aluminum/steel differential for the electric stampede. There is a small brass washer that comes with the diff, but I can't find anything similar in the stocker- Am I supposed to use this somewhere?

Does it fit onto the steel outputs? If so, then it's for shimming the diff (to keep it from sliding side to side in the tranny case).

It should be placed between the sun gears.
