bench racing!!
My freind has a revo and t maxx "upgraded to 3.3", He's saying that I have no chance against his trucks!!
I just upgraded my E maxx to Quark 125 - 9xl - 14 cell. It also has t-bonz cvds and a A cnc M sheleton with pro line shocks. I have run this thing indoors "dealer garage" and it was NUTS, but I have not had it outside for a real test ."too much snow" Do I have a chance, or can I hold my own against the nitros? |
Well, it depends. You will be faster in acceleration, but top speed may be questionable. So, it will really end up being determined by how long the race is.
If its anything less than a couple hundred feet, I'd say you will probably get him. |
Would a guy do better with a 8 or 7xl. How about the C50maxx??
|
80% driver, 20% truck...
The right driver can win against any truck. A 3.3 Revo or T-Maxx is very evenly matched with a BL-E on 14 cells with a 9XL. If you loose, keep practicing, you will win. DM |
I'm sure I could use some practise!!
But I think I can hold my own, my first RC was a Tamya HotShot. |
Will this race be on a track or just a drag race?
|
It won't be a formal race, just bashing. The track is the old motocross track.
He thinks he'll leave me in the dust, although I don't think he understands the difference between brushless stock. |
if its just acceleration then you will leave him in a dust :)
however 9XL is better with 16-18 cells i leave savage X SS and MTA4 in a dust :) |
You should check out Brian G's top speed calulator and motor esitmator. Plug in the specifics of your setup (ie. Cell Count, Tire Size, Gearing, etc...) and it will tell you what to expect for top end. The motor estimator will help you select a motor that will eget you to the speed range you are looking for. Cool liitle tool. Check it out.
http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/index.html Generally I agree with whats already been said. Top end on a 9xl with 14 cells will be a little low compared to a 3.3 nitro, but you will accelerate faster. Going with a higher KV motor or more cells will fix that though. The 9XL on 14 cells will be a nice long running setup that should stay nice and cool, but you are giving up some top end to get that. I run my e-maxx with a 9xl on 66/24 gearing and standard size tires (5.7") and 5s Lipo(18.5v) and get fantastic results that would easily spank those nitros. It has about the same top end, but gets there much faster. The motor and everything stays cool, but I do sugest getting a heat sink for the Quark so it stays cool for you. Thats the one weakness of that esc. As has already been said, if you plan to stay with the 9xl look into going to 16 cells. |
I suppose to get 16 or 18 cell setup I need to build the packs myself, or does someone sell them? Does anyone have any pics on layoutof these cells?
Thanks for the replys!! |
I think Maxamps.com will build you some custom packs.
|
Don't worry; on 14 cells you can beat him on acceleration, enough to impress him and get his mouth shut.. :) just use good batteries. My 7XL/9920 gave me a 71 km/h on 14 cells. (not geared for speed, it was geared for about 60 km/h)
Use good cells and you should be fine. |
