programming bk 12020 controller

i am having trouble programming a bk 12020 controller and wanderer 7xl.
using 2x 7.4v 8000 lipos, deans plugs, and ubec. have followed mike's instructions and the included instructions. servo works as well as cooling fan but controller does not beep or respond at all, i think it beeped once though. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Did you remove the jumper before you plugged in the battery? If not it will only beep once to tell you the motor has changed direction. Also, have you removed the BEC jumper?

strodedawg 03.04.2007 07:58 AM

if by jumper you mean the red and black wire form the receiver plug then yes.

No, the programming jumper is put underneath the heatshrink. Close to the capacitors. There are two jumpers; one for the BEC and one for programming.

Any change you have got the throttle on reverse?

A beep is an obvious, rather annoying sound, coming from the motor. (it is more annoying when it doesn't beep at all though, i must admit.. :)

i have found the bridges and removed them, but still no beeps.
radio on (futaba 2pl)
both bridges removed
plug in batteries
wait 5s nothing
servo works
throttle channel reverse and normal attempted

is this thing damaged as i have never used it before and it is brand new.
very frustrated, missing a race day because of this
have to run to work for an hour to shut some stuff off, check post in about an hour
thanks again

Check if your transmitters throttle channel is at 0 percent, and 100 percent EPA

Romster 03.04.2007 09:33 AM

I had the same exact problem..
Found out it was how my transmitter. It was not set-up.
I love my BK12020 esc..
It will be all worth it once you get it set-up.

Romster 03.04.2007 09:37 AM

If not check your crystals...your frequency..

Romster 03.04.2007 09:41 AM

hope this helps...

strodedawg 03.04.2007 12:29 PM

the throttle is set to 0, EPA fwd/brk 100%, found the bridges and removed both, servo reversing is normal, fully charged packs,...????
as far as crystals go the servo works fine .... will test receiver with another car...
thanks for the help

if you have another receiver/transmitter, try them..

strodedawg 03.04.2007 04:43 PM

i have tried everything, maybe the controller isn't reading the motor? i have 5.5 plugs attached - one wire soldered inside and the other soldered to the outside. double wires soldered to the deans plugs and a double wire soldered across the deans plugs. every once and awhile in my attampts the motor beeped and then stopped.
checked crystals used different radios and receivers - all the same result- i bought this sytem about 6 months ago and haven't had the time to set it up until now, due to a back injury.

romster, what were your specific problems?

thanks again for all the help you all have given

Romster 03.04.2007 09:29 PM

Same thing, beeps then goes. Hmmmm.....Hmmmmm.........
-Ok did you check the mesh on pinion and spur gear.
-Make sure the servo wires are correct order on receiver example
(white-red -black)
Ok if not try the transmitter see if it's on reverse setting.
Let me no or try to get a picture of your set-up in buggy or truck.
Maybe I could see what's the problem.
I will compare it to my set-up. I am looking at my buggy right now trying to figure out why yours is not working..

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but doesn't the throttle channel on Futaba radios need to be reversed?

pinolelst 03.04.2007 11:56 PM

I think I had to reverse thottle on my JR radio to get my 9920 to recognize.
