BPP Wraith Motor Question (quick and simple)

Anyone know if it has a pre-ground flat spot, or is it round like the Mamba 20XX motors?

BlackedOutREVO 03.04.2007 07:22 PM

im pretty shure got a flat spot, because ppl break the shafts when using high voltage... idk tho

BP-Revo 03.04.2007 07:35 PM

Break the shafts??? Thats no good...might have to just stick with Mamba Motors, since Castle would probably replace the motor if you broke the shaft.

BlackedOutREVO 03.04.2007 07:56 PM

troy at bpp will replace the motor also...

new one + 4 cell lipo= instant snap

3 cell + new motor= a while of running, as long as u have a slipper or something

and 2 cell is fine

bdebde 03.04.2007 09:54 PM

yep, flat spot.

BP-Revo 03.04.2007 10:22 PM

Ok, thats good to know that he will replace it...

I'm going to run 3S lipo so it should be ok. This is probably going in a friends truck, so thats why I asked.

BlackedOutREVO 03.04.2007 10:23 PM

yeh, over time it might get weak, but troy is cool about it

BP-Revo 03.04.2007 10:34 PM

Well, it's really my friend's choice. He's building a Mini-LST (well, I'm actually building it - but he's paying for it and its his truck). I was thinking of building one with him - but I think I'm gonna do the CRT .5 instead.

Anyway, for the Mini-LST, we had 4 options to choose from.

1) Mamba ESC with Wraith Motor on 3S
2) Mamba Max ESC with Dual Wraith Motors on 3S (but not possible, since the flat spots will prevent the possibility of perfectly matching the phases).
3) Mamba Max ESC with Dual Mamba 5400's on 3S or 6800's (or 8000's) on 2S (Possible since they have no flat spot - and the non-flat spot hasn't been an issue with my 18T, which runs 3S lipo).
4) Full Mamba Max 5700 (or 6900) system on 2S lipo.

I wonder if Troy can get me a Wraith motor with no flat spot...I'll have to shoot him an email.

I know options 2-4 just seem insane and somewhat pointless, but he wanted 50-60mph and I know those setups will give him it.

BlackedOutREVO 03.04.2007 10:40 PM

1 is the only good one... dual is stupid, and all it will give u on a plus sied s better acceleration

u wont be the first person to do dual motors in a mlst, most ppl did hyperions, and a few of those c4 motors

imo DUMB! all u have is more wieght, less runtime, more heat, or less depends on how well u can match them, and alot more strain on the drive train

BP-Revo 03.04.2007 11:17 PM

Nah...I'm pretty sure top speed would be increased with two. BTW, the two will be ran off one ESC.

Running dual motors off one ESC is just like running a more powerful motor.

Anyway, at this point we are leaning toward option 4...since its easily the most powerful.

BlackedOutREVO 03.04.2007 11:27 PM

its dumb man!

get a lehner, more power then 2 motors, and probably cheper because u dont need 2 bats and all

BP-Revo 03.04.2007 11:30 PM

Who says I'm running two batteries??

This is going to be exactly the same as a single motor setup, besides the fact that the second motor is wired in with Y-adapters.

Plus, it will also have better balance this way :)

If you really feel that strongly against it then I guess we can just run the MM system...but I think thats going to be way overkill in a 2.5lb truck.

BlackedOutREVO 03.04.2007 11:38 PM

well run times will be like no time lol

if u want that much power just get a lil lehner, a few ppl have them in there mlst's and love it waay more then a wraith

but yeh i really dont think u should do dual motors, or a mm, bolth is just dumb imo, no offence or anything but if u have ever used a mlst with a wraith and a 7 cell batt u will think different, then 2 motors and a 3 cell WOW!!!!!!!

BP-Revo 03.04.2007 11:51 PM

BPP says a stock MLST does 44mph with a Wraith on 3S. My friend wants 50mph...

We'll see...most likely we will end up with option one cause I'd be too lazy to do anything except bolt things together LOL

Also, battery will be anywhere from 2200mah to 5500mah in increments of 1100 - depending on the setup. We will adjust to get the runtime we want (shooting for 1 hour).

I guess we could try a lehner, but I'm not so sure he's down with spending like 200 bucks on a single motor (any of the setups above would end up costing 200 total, while option 1 is just a little over 100).

BlackedOutREVO 03.04.2007 11:55 PM

no its like 140 for the right one

and come on!!!! u cant drive a darn mlst at 40 mph! its unstable as heck lol

plus with a lenher, 50 mph could be done with a 3 cell, run cool, so u could gear it up... and be lighter then a dual set up
