Need input on new project

So far, I've converted a couple of buggies and a Monster GT to electric and all have exceeded my expectations. I'm really glad that I did them, but the question now is, "what's next?"

I have my sights on something on road, maybe something that I can drag race. The name of the game with this one is going to be speed. It's going to have no purpose but to go as fast as possible down a scale 1/4 mile run. I don't care what runtime is, as long as it will run for about 60 seconds. I don't care about long term effects of heat, as it will only be used as a drag vehicle.

I'm looking at the 1/8 scale drag truck kits that New Era has out.

Any and all input is welcome. I want to have this done in the next couple of months.

A question that comes to mind right now is regarding the esc. I've noticed that there are a plethora of air and water escs that can handle high voltage available for far less than car escs. Can I use these? I'm not worried about programming. All it needs to do is go. Parachutes will do the stopping.

Thanks.

One problem I see with teh boat/plane stuff is having the start-up be reliable. Historically they are 'finiky' and 'coggy' when used in cars...

The MGM I have has smooth start up.. no cogging. Maybe the HV MGMs would be a good choice.

I would look into the A123 cells for this also... if the will meet the weight goals you need. If you need really light setup you may have to go with a @ 2000mah lipo setup using good cells.

I think the top speed record car was running a castle phoenix HV-110.
