Mamba 25 ESC max temp.
Most people are concerned about the max temp. the motors should hit, but I am curious about the max temp the Mamba 25 ESC can handle.
I have a Mamba25 and a 6800 in a mLST. When I set the pinion to 25T with either 0 or 10% punch control, the motor gets up to about 130 degrees, but the ESC hit about 190 according to my temp probe - is this too high? As the ESC is wrapped in plastic I can't see how a heatsink attached to it would help much. Thx. |
I wish I had grabbed a pic of the heatsink mod I did for the Mamba25 in the Photon before I sold it. Basically, attach a perfectly sized heatsink to the FETs. Then, wrap the whole thing in heatshrink. Once it cools, cut a square out on top of the heatsink like how the BK Warriors are made. This really helps temps...

OK - I know exaclty what you mean. I have one of the BK escs for my Inferno. I'll have to start the search and see what I can find, thanks.
Any idea at what temp the Mamba25 fries itself though? It looks like a Mamba Max could fit in the space when the second motor used to be with the receiver mounted above the battery tray. Then I would feel good starting to look for the right LMT or Feaigo to replace the mamba. (or maybe I don't want to drop $400 for that setup on a mLST - save it for the full sized LST2). |
I did a quick search and found this post on another forum. The response was from a castle guy but was referring to plane esc's. I wonder if the same applies to the 25. I'll have to look some more.
