Setup Advice
I am wanting to build an E-Maxx to keep up with a couple of stock T-Maxx 3.3s. I can't sped a lot of money on LiPos so I'll be running 12-14 cell IB4200s. I already have a MM ESC from another project and plan on running that with a 7 or 8xl. I'm not worried about flat out speed runs, just bashing in the back yard and maybe some racing on a basic track.
I know there are a lot of variables, but what kind of runtimes can I expect using 4200s and enough gear to keep up with the Nitros? If I'm going to be stuck with 15 minutes of run then cooling cycle and re-charge before running again, I'm wondering if electric is going to be the best way for me to go. I thought about trying a 14S2P NiMh pack but thought that might get a little heavy. AWESOME FORUM by the way Thanks in advance Jay |
Putting NiMH in series isn't that practical. You can get a good 4S2P 8000mah setup for ~$150.

Squee - where can you get those for that cheap? The Maxamps cells are like 250+ bucks for the same setup.

I believe that squee is referring to the truerc 10C pack. I don't have one, but it is easy enough to believe that it is a true 10C pack, so it should be good for an 80A constant draw, which should be enough for a 7 or 8XL.

Yup. AAngel is right. I have the TrueRC packs and they are by far the best for the money.

So anybody have any idea how long I can tool around on 12-14 4200s with an 8xl or if I could even keep with the T-Maxxes I run with?
I already have the NiMh cells and chargers, so even $150 LiPos doesn't help me. Thanks Jay |
You can keep up with them just fine. I would go 8XL... and if 12 cells doesn't do it then 14 should for sure.
Runtime: 4200s are probably good for about 2 tanks on the 3.3s.... :) |
Thank You Doc!!
