Front End came off 7 XL
 

Took the maxx for a test run this morning with the new flm chassis, and after the about 10 slow to moderate passes I noticed the motor rotating under torque until the motor wires stopped it turning any further. Nothing looks damaged other than the front plate of the motor coming loose.

It looks like it was glued originally, so has anyone had this before, and if so what sort of glue would best to fix her up. I suppose it would need to handle a bit of heat..

The XL motor endcaps are pressed in and it does look like there is some sort of adhesive as a supplement. However, this is a common issue and is solved by using the RC-Monster heatsink/clamp. Just choose the XL version...

Will the clamp fit a C can motor, as the one I have is a 7xl 540 c..

I had an endbell come off a HAcker motor and was told to use green loctite to rebond it.Worked great and it's still solid after many hard cycles.It's important to get the endbell mostly in place and then wick in some green loctite just before snapping it closed.Wait too long and you may have a problem getting it to seat properly if the glue goes off too quickly

No, the clamp won't work on a C motor. It's meant for the smooth can motors. Although, MetalMan had that happen to him and he used JBWeld IIRC...

this happened to my 9xl. I did as brianG suggest and just jbwelded it. haven't had a problem since. I will probably do the same thing to my other xl motor just as a precaution.

My friends did it 3 times. Even with JB weld. It just can't take all those 20 feet high wrecks. Still find a way to support the back end of the motor. It is unfortunate but the smooth can and heatsink mod is the best way to go.
