Some General Motor Questions

I've been recently operating under a few notions, and I just wanted to make sure they are accurate, since I'm basing the purchase of two motors off of those notions. Both happen to be LMT motors (a 1950 and a 1530).

Anyways, I know that each Lehner series is a specific motor diameter, and that there are different length motors in the series (like 1950 is longer than a 1940, which is longer than a 1930, etc).

I've assumed that motors of the same series of identical KV, but different lengths (e.g., 1950 vs 1940) will run exactly the same but the longer one having more torque.

Based on this assumption, I figured that using a larger motor in a truck that didn't require all the torque would allow a higher gear ratio to result in more top speed.

Is that accurate? I just wanted to run that through and make sure I was heading in the right direction...since I will be buying like $600 in motors based on that.

Yeah, that is accurate, the only problem that in most of the cases, the batteries can't hold up. The more resistance you put on a motor, the hotter it gets.

I'm getting some FlightPower 4900's...so they should hold up fine. :D

Thanks Serum!
