6s lipo and Quark compatible?

Is it ok to run a Hacker 9XL and my maxamps 8000mah 6 s lipo on my quark controller? I will be using the Heatsink they sell here and fans. Will that keep my quark from thermalling using a conservative gearing. Thanks

On 6s, the ESC acts funny from various reports. It does work better when the batteries discharge a little from their right-off-the-charger 4.2v/cell. The thermaling "issue" is a seperate thing altogether. Personally, I'd stick to 5s lipo or 6s A123 cells.

i fried mine on 5s!

BrianG 04.02.2007 10:57 PM

You fried your Quark on 5s?

jhautz 04.02.2007 11:07 PM

I fried mine on 5s also.... When I ran it thru a huge puddle.:019:

But seriuosly... The Quark is a solid ESC once you put some additional heat sinking on the back of the case. I'm surprised to hear one fried on 5s. What setup were you running?

zeropointbug 04.02.2007 11:25 PM

I am going to make a home made heatsink for my Quark. I am going to use an Arctic Cooling Silencer (from PC videocard) heatsink, this thing is massive. I also have a smaller one from a VC, it's probably sufficient enough.

I'll post some pics... I know Brian will be excited! :005:

Here, check them out HERE, the large Silencer weights 330 grams the way it is, although it would weight much lighter with not fan and plastic shroud. The small one weights 66 grams.

so..... which one shall i use? :027: :005:

You love it! I know you do! :005:

You gonna mount your truck on that heatsink:D

zeropointbug 04.03.2007 12:25 AM

LOL, yah, you bet! It will have a good time.

I guess it should make my own thread on this... sorry Luvsrc.

i was running a 1950/8 on 5s and 6s lipo. i mostly used 5s because of all the jerking and non-fun stuff my g2r did on 6s. i sold everything and i think the buyer ended up fixing it. i hated the quark! it would clear all of my settings at random, causing me to puff a couple of nice lipos.:035:

zeropointbug 04.03.2007 02:01 AM

I've programed my Quark before, and yah, it didn't save them. What's the deal?

BrianG 04.03.2007 10:00 AM

Holy cow ZBP! That's not a heatsink, that's a chassis! :) It should definitely stay cool. And you're right; I do like it - all heatsink and NO fans. I hate fans. Although, that heatsink is a wee bit overkill, even for me!

Tallyram: I'm surprised you blew the Quark on 5s. And your settings never saved? That's odd - I don't think that's ever happened to me. I do know that if you change settings while programming it, and then go back through to see if the settings were changed successfully, it sometimes won't seem like it, but it does change.
