LSP doing backflips!
I just learned the downside to putting 50K oil in the center diff of a brushless truggy. I do not have video, but i will soon. I dont know if any of you have seen the video of the RC18 doing a backflip on 3S lipo, but this was almost the same. Doing some test accerleration runs, I noticed how much faster the LSP accelerated with the 50K center diff oil, then I made the mistake of flooring it. Left the ground and landed on its back, luckily nothing broke or came loose, but my front suspension will not rebound any more. The drivetrain is fine, what could be the problem?

Bent shockshaft? Bent hingepin? Check out all the front pins ;)

I'm gonna guess and say bent towers and/or shock shafts. Sylvester, did you ever get those pictures of yours will all the new parts?

Well, that's what I thought at first, but I didn's do anything that would have broken anything. Turns out I had the long diff case screws tightened too much.

Thanks for the kind words guys. The shepherd just turned two. The dog never gets tired, he chases all of my electric cars and bites at the tires, but keeps a safer distance from the nitro ones. The only time he isnt right on the car is when he chases the rc18 with 2S and 3S lipo; I even get bored with driving it before the packs dumps. One of the reasons I converted the LSP is so he could have something faster than the emaxx (he catches it too easily) to chase (rc18 pretty much only good on pavement with touring car tires)!
By the way, the video does not do the brushless truggy justice, it is FAST! Probably due to the trakpowers, as I have everything on the MM tamed down. The car accelerates much quicker now that I put 50K oil in the center diff, and the glitching is minimal. I will see if it looks any faster on video with the new diff setup. The only real problem is that the MM feels really hot to the touch after driving through the grass for a while. Would a fan help very much? I know that everyone is putting them on everything, but how many degrees does it actually drop the temps? Right now I have it up in the air by itself so I figured I would not need a fan. Ambient temps here in Memphis have been in the 80's for the past several days. |
When you feel the MM, can you hold you finger(s) on it for 3-5sec.? If so, the MM heatsink is most likely around 110-130 deg., which is fine. If it burns your finger when touching the heatsink for less than a second, then it may be time to invest in a temp. gauge (or use one if you already have one). The MM will thermal at 200-220 deg., and if it isn't thermalling then you might not need a fan.

I have two female's, one nine years and her daughter pushing 3. They both chase my cars, but the mother is a pure hunter, she will chase anything fast, if she catches it she will try to tear it apart. When i put my cars up, she gets sad and almost beggs for another crack at them. I love german shepherds, most beautiful dogs in the world and great alarm systems
