Fried Batteries
I got a Mamba Max 5700 for my 4-tec, but sinde i dont have a front drive belt right now i tried it in my maxx. First I just went with a 6 cell pack, then i made a plug to series two together. It was running fine then it just stopped I checked it out and on the ends the battery bar was burnt into the cell, one is ruined the other still works. Can anyone tell me what happened here.

You did something that you shouldn't have...I don't know how many times we have said this on the forums, but the Mamba Max motors just aren't big enough for the Maxx...The ESC is, just not the motor. It probably pulled to many amps from being overgeared. I don't even think the 5700 is supposed to be run on 12 cells first off...

You could make sure it didn't short out.

What happened: too much current draw on the battery. 5700 on 12 cells will pull a lot of amps... 100+... too much for a stick pack for sure.

It says on the mamba package that it takes 6 to 12 cells or up to 3s lipos. With a bigger motor i can use this esc and 12 cells?
|
yes, use a bk 7XL or 8XL in the e-maxx with the mamba max speedo on 12 cells. also use ubec and disable built-in bec.( cut red wire)

The key to running higher voltage is a lower kv (rpm) motor... and a big vehicle requires a big motor.
As jolly said... 7xl or 8xl and preferably a ubec, even a cheapie $10-15 one will do. That will actually work!.. probably better than you can imagine ;) |
