it starts... my brushless jato project

i have a clod based crawler that has 4 wheel proportional steering, a brushless emaxx, and now i thought i'd go to the other end of the speed extreme and build a brushless jato.

i just got a used roller today:

i have an extra rx from the spektrum dx3.0 that i just bought for my emaxx, which i plan to also use for the jato. i also plan to get the mamba 4600 system but am unsure about batteries thus far (i'd rather build my own m1 cell packs than go lipo. i'm too rough on my trucks! :005: ). the plan is to keep the 2 speed and hook a servo up to the mechanical brakes. other than that, this is going to be a slow build - i have a lot of research to do!

thanks to BP-Revo and BrianG for helping out and answering a lot of questions so far. you guys are great!

so, it's a start...

THe jato is a perfec truck for a conversion. Good luck with it. BrianG's jato is amazing, so see what he did and then decide on yours.

thanks man!

i've been peppering BrianG with lots of questions (he has kindly answered every one of them), and analyzing his threads on his conversion. i've also checked out batfish's thread as well. i know it won't be original (unless i tried tackling a 4wd jato, lol) but it should be fun. i just can't believe how light this truck is! it's going to be so much fun to drive... when it's done. :027:

It'll be a speed demon that is forsure! if I didn't have to sel my 3.3, it would have gone BL when the motor died! :(

Keep it up im looking forward to this build!

ClodMaxx 04.16.2007 11:42 PM

thanks guys! i think it's going to be a lot of fun. i need to stop adding mods to my maxx though...

it's going to take a while. one of these weekends i need to tear it down, get my mamba system and m1 cells, and mock up the design. then the fabrication can start... or ideas for it, at least.

kinda funny... i'm so accustomed to the big brute 4x4's that this just seems so....fragile and little! i had my crawler wheels out and took these funny shots. they don't even seem like the same scale, even though they are!!

Looking forward to it ClodMaxx.

You gotta be able to "bust" the 65MPH Drag Racin' Nitro Jato in this month's RCCA magazine (May 2007). It is drag specific with NO front shocks among many other things.

Have you seen it by chance?

ClodMaxx 04.18.2007 11:06 PM

i've not seen that article - i need to get my RCCA subscription going again! i'm heading to the newstand tomorrow to check it out. thanks for the tip!

The drag Jato looks pretty sweet! A tad weird to see it without front shocks though! LOL, but I bet it's fast!

2FastSS4U 05.13.2007 07:20 PM

If i'm not mistaken it was only as fast as a stock jato in top speed. It just got there faster. Lookin' forward to seein this BL Jato when its done! Good luck.
