kontronik jazz 10-32-55/ twist-42 combo

The people at kontronik said that the jazz 10-32-55 cant be used for rc car application, but the instruction manual that came with the ESC said that its possible to programm this controller for rc car racing so whom to believe? and can I use six cells with it or is it only built for the usage of 10-32 cells? I have this controller for along time and I thought that I can use it with the new TB EVO 4:cool:

Well I have heard that the jazz esc work with cars, but I also heard that they have lots of cogging problems.

I think it was lipomaxx, maybe check with him.

Well, I guess it wont help. The 55-10-32 ESC is really not suited for rc car applications, I have already tried it in the B4 with the LEHNER 1920/8 turn motor and the motor's performance is not as good as it is when I connected it to the BK 9918 ESC, the acceleration was really poor and the ESC thermals alot, just after two minutes of running on 10 cells and even with a cooling fan the thing still thermal and NOT TO MENTION THE COGGING, THE COGGING IS REEEEAAAALY BAAD. So I think a basic 5300 + 9918 combo is the best combination. I also thought of the twist-55+ schulze u-force 75, but I dont know what people think of this controller. Please provide me with some help.

I would not buy the U-force, since the mamba maxx is coming out. Even if the Uforce is as good as the mamba, you still have to figure in CC has great customor servce along with it being in the USA.

But its going to take a while before it comes out. right? I'm a bit hasty.

maxxdude1234 05.30.2005 03:44 PM

I belive mike quoted 6-8 weeks on the castle creations mamba maxx.... check this: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...=&threadid=627

What is the AMP rate of the MAMBA MAXX by the way?

maxxdude1234 05.30.2005 04:32 PM

there are no details on specific amp ratings. But 2400watts at 19.2v (16cells) gives 125amps peak current.......

bob2300NX 05.30.2005 05:15 PM

120 contius.

400 SURGE!!!!

Here is a video: http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=525

Scroll till you find CC.

captain harlock 05.30.2005 06:05 PM

This is might be the amp rate for the brushed motors?

captain harlock 05.31.2005 11:25 AM

BTW, what is the difference between the basic 5300 and the kontronik twist-55? I bet their almost the same.

bob2300NX 05.31.2005 11:56 AM

I think the twist is made better, and is alittle smaller than the basic.

RC-Monster Mike 06.03.2005 10:15 PM

The twist and basic 5300 will perform very closely. the Lehner will have a little more torque, bu the twist will accelerate a little quicker in a small car. The twist has the nice heat sink built into the can, too. I doubt the twist is made "better". Just a little different.

Okay, then both the L.B. 5300 and the K.T-55 are almost the same. Now I would like to know which spped controller would be the right choice to go with them (in a touring car that is). There's the Schulze U-force 75 and there is the Kontronik Jazz-80-6-18 ESC and the Warrior 9918 ESC. The Schulze looks great, but I dont know about the K. jazz 80 some people said it coggs alot, but I dont like the 9918 in terms of size and the BEC issue. The Mamba Maxx is going to take some time befor it comes out so I wonder which of these ESC's would be my best choice for the TAMIYA TB EVO 4 MS.

bob2300NX 06.05.2005 05:46 PM

My vote would be the MGM then. Or if you dont mind spending the extra $$$ then the uforce.
