Any vids of an 8th scale with 7xl running 4s?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone has videos of a 8th scale buggy BL conversion running a Fiago 7 or 8xl with a 4 cell lipo pack. My brushless vendetta (vid) has just about had all the abuse it can take. Id like to take it out on the track a few times too.. Mabye swap it out with my mugen at a local club race and see how it runs with the nitros. Seeing a video of what this setup looks like before i build it would be great. With the cost of the stuff to do these conversions, i want to know im going to be happy with my setup so im not upgrading a week after buying the stuff!

Thanks!

I have a Hyper 8 with Feigao 8XL and 4s Lipo, but I don't have a video of it yet. But I can tell you that it is MORE than enough power. The Road Rages on there don't last very long on the street!

I had a 7XL in my buggy running on 4S. It ran very well, but the motor did get hot on extended runs. I switched to an 8XL and kept the same gearing and the temps got better. The electric buggies are beasts on the track. The power available at the flick of the throttle is unbelieveable.

On the downside, it's like metalman says, tires don't last long. Crimefighters don't last long as it is, but with the electric, they wear out even faster. Of course, my driving style might have something to do with it. I'm not very good, so I tend to take it really easy and then take advantage of the torque to get over the jumps rather than having a rolling start like most do with nitro engines.

I am also finding that I don't need nearly as much top speed as I initially thought I would. At this point, I'm really considering setting my buggy and truggy up for about 30 mph for the track. We run a tight "driver's" track. I'm considering going with a 9XL to keep things cooler.

Mabye the 8xl will be a better choice then to keep the heat down. My buddy and i will be both converting our ofna buggies and will be primarily for bashing so they will be recieving a good beating. What gearing were you guys running?

Aangel, what kind of top speed did you loose going from the 7 to the 8? You did pick up torque though right?

Thanks for the replies!

I've got a movie of a 5S powered maxx on a 7XL if you are interested?

I never spent a whole lot of time clocking any of my off road stuff. I just always gear things to be fast enough these days. When I went to the 8XL, the whole purpose was to go easier on everything. I left the gearing the same as I was running with the 7XL, which was 14/46. As a result, amp draw went down, so the batts ran cooler; motor temps went down, in the sense that I could run longer before things got too hot, and the esc ran cooler. The difference in speed was noticeable, but not drastic. Besides, when I want to go faster, I just gear up a couple of teeth. I didn't notice an increase in torque. Not that there wasn't a difference, I just didn't notice it.

Overall, I'm happier with the 8XL, than I was with the 7XL. I've just recently started running 5S lipo, so I'm going to get a 9XL, which should get me the performance of the 7XL on 4S, but with less heat and more runtime.

I've got a big Novak HV heatsink on mine and it is at its limit when it gets over 80 outside.

zeropointbug 04.21.2007 03:45 AM

oh yah, i already saw that vid of yours! :027:

What kind of throttle were you giving it there>?

Serum 04.21.2007 01:53 PM

What kind of throttle?

i would say a WOT when it started to wheelie and about 60-65 percent on take-off..

Serum 04.21.2007 01:55 PM

at full wot, the truck was starting to 'walk' on the two rear wheels making it instable as heck..
