Wow!! What a difference bearings make.
 

I just upgraded all of my bearings in my dual BL Maxx with a set of Acer ceramic nitride bearings. Man what a difference that made.
When I had my diff case opened up, I spun the diff cup around with the stock bearing and within 2 seconds it came to a stop.
With the new Acer bearing installed I counted off 16 seconds before it came to a stop! Now times that by all of the bearings that are in there and I think I found me some free horsepower (ok so I had to pay for the bearings but you know what I mean).

Thats awesome. How much are the ceramic nitride bearings? I have heard some great things about them, and you have backed this up even more. I may need to pick up a set of them for the buggy.

Sounds like a worthwhile thing to do. Probably very good for high speed vehicles to squeeze every last MPH out...

Bearings were $100. A little pricey I know but I think it should give me a couple extra mph at least. That was freeing up some serious resistance I think.
I did the same spin test with the bearings in the axle carriers and in the tranny with similar results as well.

I would assume that the electronics would stay a little cooler as well, from not having to work as hard... probably not a very big difference there.

Temps were low to begin with. Now I'm not as worried about that drop in my spur gear from the 66t to the 54t I just put in.

I also have a set of ceramics from Boca Bearings and Acer Racing.
They work like silk and their life expectancy many times higher than the steel bearings.
I only want to know how to open up my Lehner 1950 and change it's normal bearings with ceramic ones.

I have a load of the Boca yellow seal ceramic bearings and they last for ages compared to run of the mill bearings,even in the wheel bearings where they're exposed to the most dirt they're still silky smooth after a few months,the seals are so much better on those.

Just this week I installed ceramics in all of my Lehner motors(3 1920's and 4 Lehner Basic XL's). The motors run butter smooth now. The main thing I noticed is heat. Before changing the bearings if I touched the motor bearings after a good run then they were hot. Now they stay cool and my motor runs a few degrees cooler as well. From hear an out I don't think I'll even bother with anything but ceramic bearings. They do cost but I think they're worth it. My G3R is going to have the Acer ceramics.

I wonder if heat from bearings is one of the contributing factors to the "40krpm limit" for motors? At that speed, things with even a little resistance can get hot...

My mamba max motors, 4600 and 5700 on 3s, get hottest around the rear bearing.

Something else to consider; if your mesh is a little tight, it will put lateral strain on the bearings which will cause them to heat up more...

can you buy acer bearings singly because i need some for my HB diff pinions and HB diff it self. and these items would not come with the emaxx bearing kit.

Yes just check the Acer website. If they have your size then you can buy singles.

First I would check avidrc.com for your size. They are getting more ceramics in all the time and they sell for $5 each.

what bearing size is that pinion size and hb diff size. i think the pinion is like 16 8 5 but i am not sure. got any ideas.
