which motor for speed on 3s lipo
i currently have a feigeo 380c 6L (4899kv) and was wondering if the mamba 5700kv would be an upgrade for more speed. please give explanation if possible to your responce

I'm going to assume that you are using a Mamba Max esc. The 5700 would be somewhat of an upgrade. It's simply by virtue of the fact that the 5700 turns more rpms per volt than the feigao motor and the 5700 has the torque to be geared. On 3S lipo, assuming 3.5v per cell under load, the feigao will turn about 51,500 rpms. The mamba motor will turn about 60,000 rpms on the same voltage. Are you running this in a 1/10th scale? The fastest readily available system is probably a Mamba 4600 on 4S.

thanks angel thats what i was thinking just wanted another opinion

What's the max rpms of the motor? The 5700 is getting pretty close for the max motors, but I think the max for the feigaos is lower.

What are you running the motor on? For 10th scale trucks I always say go down in kv. Kind of depends on what you are running it in though. If it is a lightweight onroad car with tiny little wheels then you will want a different motor then say a Stampede or Rustler. If it's the pede or rustler you are running then you need to go down in kv, not up.

i ordered the mamba 5700kv motor and hope to enjoy it on 3s. iwont be running it all out but its nice to have some extra power behind the trigger when u wanna show off. plus i read that the mamba motors were more efficient than the fiegeo 540 motors.

Well, also remember you are comparing a 380 motor vs a 540 motor (though it has a 480 sized rotor). Either way, its still a larger motor. And even if the KV ratings were the same, the Mamba Max Motor would have more torque since its a 540 and could be geared higher because of it.
However, the Mamba Max motor also has more KV as well, so the Mamba Max will definitely be faster than the Feigao motor. |
i couldnt agree more i feel i made a good decision going with the 5700 for 3s and putting the fiegeo away cause i got the need for speed i did a lot of reasearch before ordering the motor but am sure it will do me better than my fiegeo

However, for just doing speed runs, I don't think I'd buy either. I'd drop the $ for a Lehner. FWIW, the 6L is no slouch of a motor...I'm running it real close to 50MPH in my T3 (gps verified at 47.7mph) with only using a 2S lipo. The problem I have is keeping the rolling wheelies to a minimum with all that torque. www.skellyo.com/T3_4.WMV |
i have the fiegeo now and am happy with the speeds im getting but hear of more speed with the mamba 5700 and i also hear the mamba is more efficient so i bought one and will compare motors and see which one i like more and just keep the one i dont like as much as a spare.

yea and the torque is amazing even on 6 cells with the fiegeo. did u see my video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFM9AnUILI4 the feigeo ripped 3 diff gears apart in this truck before i got the slipper set right |
