Can something possibly happen?
 

Well, as some may know, I bought the Mamba Max 4600 recently for my future CRT.5. I also ordered a center diff and kyosho 46t spur for the buggy. I was wondering if anything can possibly go wrong if I try the 4600 with a spare ib4200 6 cell pack I have laying around in the buggy? I would not use the combo for actually bashing hard or anything... but just a short test on the street. I know the MM is made for 1/10 scale, but could it possibly get damaged from such a high load on the ESC/motor beign used in a 1/8 scale rc?

just take it easy you should fine, but check your temps.

It might cog a whole lot. If it does, get off of the throttle quick. An 1/8 scale buggy probably weights two to three times more than a 1/10 scale.

Is it possible that the esc can fry if it coggs too much? Is it under warrenty for it so I can get a replacement?

If it coggs too much it will toast the controller. I killed one a couple of weeks ago. Running a MM in an 1/8 scale buggy is not covered by warranty.

Yes, when it coggs there is very little rotor motion. The rotor turning through a magnetic field is what helps limit the current in the windings. No motion means the current is only limited by the DC resistance of the coil wire - which is VERY VERY low. This high current can easily damage an ESC.

So basicly, what you guys are trying to say is... don't do it, lol. But would it be all right for maybe 5-7 minutes? Can it fry in such little time?

I have seen people run them in an e-maxx, and they said that it worked okay for the most part. But i don't know how the weight of an e-maxx compares to a 1/8 scale buggy.

5-7 minutes?!! Depending on how bad the cogging is, the motor used, battery voltage, etc, it can take as little as several seconds.

I think he meant drive it 5 - 7 min not cogging 5 - 7 min. LOL

The 4600 with a 6 cell pack shouldn't create any trouble in the buggy IMO - use low gearing. If it coggs noticeably, back off the throttle to avoid blowing it up. Not ideal, but I would bet it works just fine. 6 cells won't be terribly impressive in a 1/8 buggy, though. :)

Thanks for the help guys. I actually just realized that I forgot to buy a pinion from Mike, so I guess I'll just buy a pinion for the future CRT.5. What gearing are most of you guys running?
