MY mbx5
I ran my buggy with the new motor today. I was using a 9XL on 14 cells & a 9920 with fan. It is diffinetly slower than my 7XL :005: . I was running round for around 8-10 minutes before i stopped. Towards the end it started to start & stop start & stop really quick. I brought it in & temped evrything temps are as follows. Any ideas ?.
Gearing was 51/12 ESC = 120 motor = 110 at heatsink & around 140 at endbell Batt = 135 - 145 If i do decide to get 4s lipo will it be alot faster or only noticably faster ?. |
Need better batts

You need to check out your connections between the esc, motor and batts.
Also, lipos would increase overall power and runtime. The vehicle will not be incredibly fast in comparison with sub-c cells, but you'll notice a great increase in the vehicles torque. |
Yeah, everything looks good except your batt temps. I would think that it would be hard to say whether you will get more speed, less speed, or the same speed going to the 4S setup, since we don't know what quality your nimh cells are. In any case, a good lipo will hold its voltage better than a nimh pack, so although overall speed may not increase, you should really see an increase in zip.

All connections are good. The 14 cells were in storage for a month or two. So im equilizing them now & will recharge them & try again in a few minutes. My batteries are matched 14 IB 3800 promatch cells. The individual cell voltage range from 1.187 (lowest) to 1.189 (highest) in both pack's. |
Thats pretty damn balanced...
