Well its the end of the month...any word on G3R?
Anyone know what the holdup is on the G3R? Also, is there anywhere that still has a G2R for sale? I'm really itching to get a Revo set up.
|
The aluminum G3R is out now. I hope the CF one is soon to follow.

Doesnt seem to be much improvement apart from the rear upper plate.
|
Oh my goodness. At last. Let the fun begin.
Anyone notice the small side strap on the battery? Did the G2R have this? I think I'd rather they just put a small bezel in the battery tray to hold the battery from sliding. |
Does mike have the aluminum G3R in? I don't want to order threw the Gorilla site I'd rather buy it from Mike.
|
At least they didn't mark up the price as much as they did on the G3 Maxx chassis. ~$50 is much easier to handle than a $100 jump.
|
I agree with hyperasus - it would be nice if they did a lip on the battery tray rather than relying on a strap - but I suppose this gives us more flexibility. So the big question as far as I'm concerned is ... when do you think Mike will have a G3R rolling chassis? I'm in the middle of doing an e-Revo conversion using the Revo 3.3 chassis, but I'm tempted to do one of these as well...
|
I think Mike is going to set up a combo in the store for the G3R Rolling Chassis & V2 Slipperential. Soon as he does I'll be clicking the BUY button along with a set 8th scale Hybrid diffs and RPM A-arms. Cant even tell you guys how excited I am. I already have a G3R coming my way soon as Mike gets all the stuff in, + I'm going to buy a second one for my bro. Been waiting forever for Gorilla to get these suckers on the market.... now the time is finally at hand it almost feels to good to be true.

Looks like he took a page out of my book with the rear ESC mount.
See: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...t=rear+mounted Edit: After looking at the G3R a bit more, I honestly don't think there is much improvement. Sure, some parts a little stiffer/stronger, but I don't think too many people actually had a problem with the original. Also, the rear ESC plate really only helps those who are going for a bolt on setup, most of us here which have more extensive mods will probably mount the ESC elsewhere, since we aren't using an HV or EVX. (I'm getting the Quark heatsink so I can mount my ESC opposite my motor). |
Q. for you BP-Revo- 4 capacitors on the HVmaxx set up you used to run; how did that work for you? Longer run time, slower drop-off on the batts, did any arc-ing occur when you plugged in the batts? Im curious since I run the Hvmaxx & 6.5 motor on 14.4v.....(it was all they had at the time!)

BTW guys, the carbon fiber G3R is out and its $359. This price increase isnt nearly as bad as the new G3 chassis.
|
Yes I noticed they have the carbon version up on the gorillamaxx website. I talked to Mike and he said he will have them in shortly. I'm probably going to go with the aluminum version....unless of coarse you guys can talk me in to going with carbon fiber. Dirt and sand is pretty harsh and abrasive here so I worry about it eating away at the carbon fiber finish. Also, I know sooner or later I'll end up doing a full speed jump(or 12). Can the carbon really take the abuse?
|
From what I've seen, not really. Carbons great for racing cos its so light, but doing jumps/ crashing puts too much strain on it- if it flexes too much it will shatter/splinter.

New member here....
I justs purchase the G3R Race Chassis - CF and can't wait to get it. I will see how it compares to my Brushless Losi LST conversion. :p |
Cool. Get some picks up of that LST- I havent seen many conversions of that truck. And welcome to RC-monster, home of electric lovers!
